Job Summary

The Electronics Technician II plays a crucial role in assembling, prototyping, testing, soldering, and maintaining electronic equipment and components. This position involves a variety of tasks, including assembling, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and analyzing the performance of electronic modules, prototypes, and printed circuit boards (PCBs) to determine functionality while maintaining and repairing any identified issues. This supports both production and prototype efforts. The Technician utilizes advanced diagnostic equipment, including oscilloscopes and similar test apparatus. Updating schematics and bill of materials to assure consistency throughout documentation is an aspect of this position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Gathers information and shares ideas for future improvements in electronic testing and related protocols.
  • Identifies where improvements can be made through analysis and troubleshooting processes and provides creative solutions to problems.
  • Reads and understands diagrams, schematics, mechanical drawings, and bills of materials to ensure there is an understanding of the task at hand, be it building an electro-mechanical assembly, PCB rework, prototyping and identifying defects.
  • Performs routine production testing to ensure proper functionality of PCB and module designs. Supervises and provides feedback to lower-level technicians.
  • Assembles electromechanical modules and control cabinets.
  • Conducts failure analysis, documents results, and recommends corrective action to make helpful contributions to future revisions and prototype feasibility.
  • Assists with inventory to ensure parts are available to fulfill project requirements. Packages electronic devices/modules as needed.
Requirements
  • Two (2) or more years of related experience.
  • Associate Degree or Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering Technician/Technology, Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technician OR four (4) additional years of related experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of electronic components and principles, safety procedures, and electro-mechanical tools.
  • Knowledge of soldering techniques, testing procedures, methods, tools, and electrical equipment.
  • Ability to interpret schematics, mechanical and electrical drawings, diagrams, wiring lists, Bill of Materials and internally driven specifications, is preferred.
  • Skill in precision, hand-eye coordination, fine motor control, and manual dexterity.
  • Ability to set goals and work cross-functionally with other teams.
  • Ability to follow complex instructions.
