Production Equipment Maintenance Technician

_**Purpose of position**:_
The purpose of this job is to perform the daily maintenance activities of the facilities and its equipment, so that orders are completed in advance of the scheduled deadline. This involves performing repairs and participating in an efficient preventative maintenance schedule that will minimize production downtime due to equipment or structural failure. The job also requires assisting in the installation of new machinery and equipment, and maintaining a sufficient parts inventory to allow for rapid response to unforeseen mechanical or structural problems, in addition to diagnosis and repair of any and all mechanical failures throughout the facilities.
- **Duties & Responsibilities**:_
Working from the directives of the Maintenance Manager, carry out routine preventative maintenance activities which support orders being ready in a timely fashion in advance of the completion deadline.
Minimize the downtime of production machinery and equipment due to mechanical and/or structural failure through rapid response and diagnosis of mechanical problems.
Participate in the maintenance of an electronic inventory system that ensures that sufficient spare parts are available in the event of mechanical and/or structural breakdown.
Support health and safety and procedures and practices throughout the Factory by ensuring that housekeeping and safe work practices are maintained throughout the Factory. In addition, ensure that all required machine guards are in place and functional and that faulty machinery is “locked out” in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act in order to prevent workplace injuries.
Ensure that supervisors and machine operators are sufficiently trained on the correct operating and minor preventative maintenance procedures in order to reduce and/or prevent damage to the machine during daily production activities.
**Operational Responsibilities**
Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, carry out scheduled preventative maintenance activities on machinery and equipment throughout the Factory.
Minimize the downtime of production machinery and equipment due to mechanical and/or structural failure through rapid response and diagnosis of mechanical problems.
Ensure that supervisors and machine operators are sufficiently trained on the correct operating and minor preventative maintenance procedures in order to reduce and/or prevent damage to the machine during daily production activities.
Participate in the maintenance of an electronic inventory system that ensures that sufficient spare parts are available in the event of mechanical and/or structural breakdown.
Recommend mechanical and/or structural improvements to the Factory and equipment that will allow for improved productivity through more efficient work practices.
As required, work with outside contractors on installations, repairs and special projects in order to minimize disruption to the production processes.
