The Senior Commercial Underwriting Manager will play a critical role in analyzing and underwriting commercial credit facilities, ensuring compliance with established lending guidelines and procedures. This position requires a self-starter with sound underwriting skills and the ability to make efficient decisions in complex situations.
Key Responsibilities- 60% of the time, the incumbent will analyze and underwrite commercial credit facilities, including construction and conventional loans, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- 20% of the time, the incumbent will communicate with external and internal contacts to ensure timely and efficient transaction processing, delivering superior customer service and meeting funding deadlines.
- 10% of the time, the incumbent will manage their deal flow to meet prescribed deadlines.
- 10% of the time, the incumbent will perform administrative and reporting duties, providing valuable insights to Senior Management.
- Proficient underwriting skills with a minimum 5 years of commercial mortgage experience.
- Demonstrated service excellence within the field.
- Post-secondary education (diploma/degree) preferred, preferably in business or finance.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office (primarily Word and Excel).
- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong business sense combined with sound technical knowledge of secured lending and factors affecting the commercial mortgage market.
- Established organizational skills.
- Ability to handle multiple competing priorities.
- Good time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability and desire to attend industry-related events as required.
- The position requires the incumbent to be a self-starter, making sound underwriting decisions efficiently. Commercial mortgage applications can be complex, requiring creative and innovative thinking and proactive problem-solving.
