Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate suitability of material for publication, broadcast, or publication on the Internet
  • Detect and correct errors in spelling, grammar, and syntax
  • Shorten or lengthen copy
  • Plan coverage of upcoming events and assign work accordingly
  • Confer with authors, staff writers, reporters, and others regarding revisions to copy
  • Plan and co-ordinate activities of staff and assure production deadlines are met
  • Write or prepare introductions, marketing, and promotional materials, bibliographic references, indexes, and other text
Requirements:
  • Editors Association of Canada membership
  • Microsoft Publisher, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS Project, and MS Word proficiency
  • Experience in technical or specialized editing, including user guides, press releases, research papers or reports, financial reports, newspaper or magazine articles
  • Production editing activities, including photography and captions, editing on-screen, paper editing, and final products copy
  • Technical or specialized writing, including editorial
  • Area of work experience in mining and exploration, geology specialization in mineral deposits or mining, security and safety, including criminal record checks
