Job Summary

Melloy Industrial Services Inc is seeking a skilled Intermediate Estimator to join our team. As an Intermediate Estimator, you will play a crucial role in the development of accurate and comprehensive estimates for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Estimate Development: Perform quantity, material, and labor takeoff from drawings, specifications, and related documents to compile large spreadsheets and databases of bill of quantity data.
  • Scope Understanding: Read and comprehend client documents, including a detailed understanding of multi-discipline scopes, to ensure accurate estimate development.
  • Collaboration: Review quantity survey assignments with lead estimators or chief estimators to ensure seamless collaboration and accurate estimate development.
  • Productivity and Allowances: Apply productivity and material units and allowances to the estimate to ensure accurate cost estimation.
  • Documentation: Document all information relating to the estimate and archive and organize such information to transfer to the project team upon successful award.
  • Client Communication: Develop and maintain strong customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project success.
Requirements
  • Education: Postsecondary degree or diploma in a related discipline or trade experience or equivalent.
  • Experience: 5 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating, and 6 months of on-site experience is preferred.
  • Skills: Knowledge of construction industry; on-site experience or exposure to construction (hands-on or trade experience) preferred; ability to work in a busy team environment; attention to detail and the ability to creatively solve problems; working knowledge of estimating software, advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite, and a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
