Job Overview

Position Summary

The Payroll Administrator plays a crucial role within the mill operations. Reporting directly to the HR Manager, you will oversee the payroll functions for the mill site. This encompasses the collection and input of payroll data, along with ensuring payrolls are processed punctually and in compliance with relevant government regulations and corporate policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Execute accurate full cycle payroll processing, including timesheet entry and verification for approximately 500 employees across various entities. Liaise with supervisors and staff to address payroll-related inquiries as they arise. Guarantee payroll processing adheres to applicable Collective Agreements, company policies, and legal requirements. Conduct year-end reconciliations. Serve as a resource for employees, informing the Payroll & Benefits Supervisor of significant changes or issues when necessary. Prepare Records of Employment as needed. Maintain comprehensive payroll records and ensure all necessary documentation is received and accurate.

Required Qualifications

At least 1 year of experience in computerized payroll systems. Familiarity with Payroll Guardian is advantageous. Strong understanding of employment and labor standards. Payroll Certification (PCP) or in progress. Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Word and MS Excel (including the ability to create and utilize formulas). Capable of prioritizing tasks and working efficiently under pressure to meet deadlines while managing multiple responsibilities. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment. Ability to build and maintain supportive working relationships. Demonstrated flexibility, confidence, and self-motivation. Skilled in interacting with a diverse range of individuals in a calm and courteous manner.
