Operations Learning & Development Specialist

How does the role impact the organization?

The Learning & Development Specialist will work with all functional areas of Canadian Operations to create, produce, deliver, manage and provide competency-based learning materials. The immediate priority of the Specialist will be to plan and create the training program, content and materials for effective training for Operations Technical Specialists, for the Account Transfers department as well as for ongoing tasks and the rapid response team. In addition to this, the Specialist will be responsible for creating technical learning materials for business analysts, creating learning materials for internal projects, and enhancing employee learning plans. A variety of learning materials will be created by the Specialist from job-aids, ebooks, e-learnings, microlearnings, dripped learning, newsletter articles, videos, quizzes, and more. The Specialist will also be required to facilitate classroom-style training sessions and run our annual gamification initiative and be creative with innovative approaches to learning. The Specialist will work with our Senior L&D Specialist on select projects and initiatives from time to time.

What will your role be responsible for?

  • Collaborate with Operations and project subject matter experts to identify target audience's training requirements and needs;
  • Plan, develop and create effective learning and training programs specific to each Operational department to ensure quickness to competency for associates;
  • Develop and deliver the internal training program from the Operations perspective and deploy a variety of types of learning materials;
  • Organize and deliver classroom and remote training sessions as required; create quick job-aids for just-in-time training;
  • Enroll users and update content on the learning management system (LMS);
  • Create learning materials for our technical specialists and analysts;
  • Manage the Rapid Response Team execution and all their just-in-time learning needs;
  • Lead and run the gamification initiatives in Operations (RJ charades and Raymond Jamespardy plus others as required);
  • Contribute to the learning culture of Raymond James as a whole through shared goals, planning and ideation;
  • Update and manage the internal intranet and LMS with Operations training content as required and provide support as an Operations content author;
  • Provide creative ideas to engage learners and implement gamification into Operations leaning content;
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training by measuring and evaluating feedback from participants;
  • Design assessments for verifying learner knowledge and capability and provide summarized reporting;
  • Ensure training content is kept up to date on a regular basis by deploying a review/update process that is maintained; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

What do we expect from you?

  • 2 - 5 years experience
  • Ability to apply adult learning principles;
  • Ability to think critically and ask targeted questions to determine needs and respond appropriately;
  • Experience with multiple delivery methods, including e-learning initiatives;
  • Excellent proficiency in business process concepts (i.e. work flow diagrams, process mapping techniques), e-learning software (Articulate Storyline), and Webex, etc.;
  • Experience utilizing a learning management system (LMS);
  • Excellent planning abilities, including project management basics.
  • Experience in the financial services or brokerage industry;
  • Proficiency with a video editing tool; e.g. Captivate/Camtasia/Vyond
  • Knowledge of Articulate Storyline/ Rise/360;
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office - MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, quick learner, dependable, professional, creative and innovative;
  • Post-secondary education in learning principles and/or certification in adult continuing education or instruction skills is an asset;
  • Formal instructional design experience preferred, including conducting in-depth needs assessment using ADDIE (or similar) design model;
  • Experience in a training or classroom environment preferred;
  • French considered an asset.

Salary Range: BC (based on Education, Work Experience, etc) $65,000-75,000 in addition to competitive performance bonuses/incentives.
