This job posting is for an existing vacancy and is intended to fill a current position within our organization.
We are currently looking for a Day Camp Counsellor to join our team of committed professionals. This full-time contract position is housed at the YMCA of Northeastern Ontario's Chippewa location in North Bay.
Under the leadership of the Supervisor of Recreational Programming or Manager of Day Camps and Community Development, the Day Camp Counsellor is responsible for program planning and delivery to ensure participant satisfaction. The ideal candidate is dynamic, enjoys working with children, and is capable of managing multiple tasks.
LOCATION: North Bay, ON
RATE OF PAY: $17.20 - $19.00 per hour
Major Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver daily programs: group games, crafts, swimming, outside time, etc.
- Supervise, engage, and participate with the program participants in group activities.
- Apply behavior management training techniques with the program participants.
- Communicate with all staff.
- Ensure the safety of all participants, property, staff, and volunteers by established practices and procedures.
- Maintain the inventory of required supplies and request more when needed.
- Welcome all children to programs.
- Represent the YMCA in a professional manner at all times.
- Communicate with parents on a daily basis.
- Track daily attendance.
- Build relationships with members and guests, and promote the YMCA as a charitable organization.
Qualifications
- Possession of an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) preferred.
- Experience working/leading group activities with children ages 3 to 12 (e.g., babysitting).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR C.
- Current and satisfactory Police Record with Vulnerable Sector Check.
