To support this continued growth, Lock Search Group has been engaged to recruit an accomplished Head of Product Development to join their leadership team.

POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Head of Product Development to lead the creation and launch of an innovative product portfolio in the heavy civil, excavation, and shoring equipment sectors. This high-impact leadership role has full accountability for building the team, driving product innovation, preparing for market launch, and ensuring ongoing commercial success. The Head of Product Development will report directly to the Managing Director, provide regular updates to the Board, and have direct management of all roles within the Product Development team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Leadership & Team Building

- Hire, onboard, and lead a high-performing product development team, including:
- A senior engineer to design and develop new products.
- A senior customer-facing professional to guide market readiness and adoption.
- Additional resources as needed to support growth and scaling.
- Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and collaboration.

Product Development & Market Launch

- Oversee the full lifecycle of product development from concept to commercialization.
- Ensure each product is designed, prototyped, tested, and validated against performance and quality standards.
- Lead the development of intellectual property, including securing patents and trademarks.
- Create all marketing materials, product literature, and technical documentation to enable a successful sales launch.
- Establish competitive pricing structures in collaboration with the commercial team.
- Develop manufacturing processes and supply chain partnerships to ensure scalability and quality.
- Manage regulatory, certification, and compliance requirements for all products.
- Build after-sales support and engineering programs to maximize customer satisfaction and retention.

Initial Product Development Priorities

- Launch Modular Shoring (Walers & Struts).
- Introduce Shoring Boxes.
- Develop Tieback Systems.
- Create Modular Trestle Bridges.
- Deliver Modular Cofferdams.
- Deploy Mechanical Excavation Equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Proven track record in leading product development within construction equipment, infrastructure, or related industries.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in building and scaling teams.
- Demonstrated success in taking complex products from concept to market launch.
- Deep understanding of engineering design principles, manufacturing processes, and supply chain management.
- Familiarity with intellectual property, regulatory compliance, and certifications in relevant sectors.
- Exceptional project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
