Title: Associate Manager - Grant Funding and Strategy
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 per year

Position Summary:
The Associate Manager – Grant Funding and Strategy will have broad and evolving responsibilities for:
- Managing all aspects of the Grant Funding activities for stakeholders within the Arctic Co-operatives Ltd. (Arctic Co-ops) federation.
- Managing all aspects of the annual Andrew Goussaert Memorial Scholarship.
- Supporting the development and execution of strategic and operational planning initiatives for stakeholders within the Arctic Co-ops federation – including sustainability initiatives.
The Associate Manager – Grant Funding and Strategy is estimated to spend, on average, 50% of their time on grant funding activities with the remainder on supporting strategic and operational plans. However, grant funding activities will be prioritized to ensure income targets are met or exceeded.
This position, and the team it is part of, are relatively new to Arctic Co-ops. The functions of the role, and team, are expected to evolve with experience and as the needs of stakeholders are revealed through meaningful engagement and evaluation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Grant Funding
· Research and identify potential grant opportunities from government agencies, foundations and other funding sources.
· Create and maintain relationships with key government and foundation contacts.
· Work with various internal stakeholder groups to build relationships, understand needs and align with funding opportunities.
· Work collaboratively with various internal stakeholders to gather necessary information to create and submit compelling grant proposals.
· Manage grant applications including tracking deadlines, ensuring compliance with grant terms, addressing funder questions and requests, etc.
· Maintain accurate records of grant applications, awards and reporting deadlines within existing organizational project planning frameworks.
· Make presentations to senior leadership as necessary.
· Bring innovative ideas and best practices to all aspects of the role.
· As needed, work collaboratively with members of the larger co-operative community to develop, submit and manage multi-partnered applications for grants that align with institutional initiatives and areas of key interest.
Scholarship
· Initiate and engage with marketing activities announcing the annual scholarship application process.
· Receive and vet applications to ensure they meet requirements.
· Lead process to select scholarship awardees based on established criteria.
· Co-ordinate the release of the scholarship funds for new and returning awardees.
· Bring relevant improvements to the scholarship fund and processes.
Strategy
· Support the various processes that generate strategic and operational plans for Arctic Co-ops, its operating divisions, subsidiaries – and the member co-operatives.
· Support the various processes involved with executing and reporting on strategic and operational plans for Arctic Co-ops, its operating divisions, and as well as the member co-operatives.
· Support, more directly, sustainability initiatives in a manner aligned with Arctic Co-ops Integrated Sustainability Model
Qualifications:
· Post-secondary education an asset – with special consideration given to studies in co-operative management.
· Knowledge of challenges and opportunities within remote Dene, Gwich’in and Inuit communities, and their local co-operatives, an asset.
· Two to four years working experience related to Grant Funding administration an asset.
· Extensive grant writing experience with a track record of securing funding an asset
· Excellent knowledge of provincial, territorial and federal grants and the general funding landscape and asset.
· Previous experience in prospect identification and/or use of prospect research database considered an asset.
· Experience with strategic and operational planning and execution an asset.
· Experience with sustainability activities an asset – particularly GHG tracking.
· Organized, detail oriented and capacity to prioritize competing tasks – including strong time management and project management skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Excellent interpersonal, writing and verbal communication skills to effectively build and develop positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
· Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
· Ability to interact with senior officials and manage highly confidential and sensitive information securely.
· Ability to work within an evolving role and department – and contribute meaningfully to that evolution – and update skills as needed.
· Desire to support broader organizational activities through committees, event support and other forums an asset.
