Position: Program Manager
Responsibilities
- Manages a team responsible for the design and implementation of manufacturing processes, equipment, or plants.
- Responsible for operational excellence via efficient plant design.
- Ensures continuous improvement in process, cost, quality, and production.
- Manages all engineering projects and resolves engineering problems.
- Familiar with a variety of the fabrication field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Leads and directs the work of others; a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- Provides technical leadership in directing the efforts of cross functional engineering team in the development and release of all relevant engineering deliverables in compliance with the product development process and/or customer expectations.
- Ensures engineering timing plans, defect/issues lists, risk assessments, lessons learned are created and maintained and provides engineering status for project reviews (e.g., APQP milestones) according to program timing for all assigned projects.
- Modifies design of existing plant layout based on internal/external customer requirements.
- Initiates and drives justification for upgrades to processing, equipment and WIP to enhance performance and value to the customer.
- Provides expertise in industrial engineering and process design to other departments.
- Understands synchronous manufacturing and lean production methodologies and can formulate and implement a tactical plan.
- Participates in Continuous Improvement and assists in its implementation by applying lean manufacturing principles to improve plant productivity.
- Assists in the commissioning of new plants/lines equipment and other systems to ensure smooth introduction into production with minimal disruptions.
- Follows safe work procedures; uses PPE; reports hazards, injuries, and illnesses promptly.
- Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and ensures corrective action when violations occur.
- Follows and complies with all Operational Procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Quality/Environment programs (IATF, ISO14001).
- Performs other duties as necessary for completion of projects and achievement of departmental goals.
- Ensures facilities are in full compliance with all safety regulations.
Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor’s degree in area of specialty and 8–10 years of experience in the field or a related area.
- In-depth knowledge of process improvement tools, product design techniques, mechanical drawing standards and GD&T.
- Prior experience with metal cutting, forming, welding (manual and robotic) and machining.
- Knowledge of Lean techniques.
- Ability to travel if required.
