The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a strategic leadership role responsible for liaising with the executive team, the board and strategizing to ensure the financial health, planning, and operations of Sun Peaks Resort LLP and its affiliated entities. This is a great opportunity for executive leaders who love to work with long-term strategy, a blend of technology/pragmatic solutions, and still know how and when to get involved in process to support and grow their organization and team.

Sun Peaks is Canada's second largest ski area and has been intentionally developed in accordance with our Master Plan (on our website , Province of BC ). The Master Plan philosophy is to strategically evolve our recreational footprint through increased accommodation and enhancements to skier/guest services and infrastructure.

Sun Peaks Resort LLP is a wholly owned Canadian subsidiary of Nippon Cable Co. of Japan. As a private entity, our ownership group is committed to the long-term growth and success of Sun Peaks Resort.

This role requires a results and detail-oriented leader with strong financial acumen, strategic thinking, and an ability to coach teams while driving financial performance in a dynamic and complex operational resort environment which includes a shared services model. It is well suited to an experienced CFO looking to build on their knowledge or make a lifestyle change which better aligns with their career, personal and/or family goals.

With the above in mind, the following portfolios roll-up under the CFO:

- Finance & Payroll (shared services)

- Information Technology (shared services)

- Rental and Retail

- Guest Services

Base Compensation: $160,000 to $180,000

Physical Requirement: Sedentary; work activities involve handling loads up to 5kg; predominantly in an indoor setting.

Primary Responsibilities:

- Financial Strategy & Leadership

- Develop and execute financial strategies to support Sun Peaks Resort’s long-term growth and investment plans

- Provide financial leadership to senior executives, department heads and other shared service teams to align financial goals with the company’s strategic objectives

- Lead financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes to ensure alignment with business priorities through our May to April annual cycle

- Strategic oversight of the payroll and benefits function, including labour reporting, workforce forecasts, compensation and more

- Financial Operations & Reporting

- Oversee financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance with regulations, and timely delivery of financial statements

- Manage and optimise financial systems, accounting processes, and internal controls to enhance efficiency and mitigate risk

- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations, tax requirements, and reporting standards

- Provide strategic oversight of the IT department, ensuring alignment with business and financial objectives

- Oversee IT budgeting and financial planning, optimizing costs while maintaining technology efficiency and security

- Ensure effective implementation of financial systems, enterprise software, and data management solutions

- Support cybersecurity and risk management initiatives, ensuring data integrity and compliance with industry regulations

- Collaborate with IT leadership to enhance digital transformation initiatives, including automation, reporting tools, and business intelligence capabilities

- Investment & Growth Planning

- Support capital investment decisions by conducting financial analysis and risk assessment

- Evaluate funding and financing options for infrastructure development, expansion, and sustainability initiatives

- Monitor financial performance metrics and provide recommendations to enhance revenue generation and cost management

- Implement and oversee risk management strategies, including financial, operational, and regulatory risks

- Ensure adherence to ISO 14001 and other relevant environmental and financial certifications

- Work closely with external auditors, financial institutions, and regulatory bodies to maintain compliance and financial transparency

- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to build a high-performing financial department

- Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement within the finance function

- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive operational efficiency and business performance

Skills you bring with you:

- MBA is an asset

- Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience in a senior capacity

- Strong knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, accounting principles, and risk management

- Experience in capital investment planning, financing structures, and business development

- Proven ability to analyze financial data and provide strategic insights for decision‑making

- First‑class communication skills with the ability to build and nurture relationships with partners and stakeholders

- Demonstrated excellence in cross‑functional collaboration

- A champion for safety and guest experience

- Sensitivity to the realities of working in a resort environment with a strong community culture

- Strong results orientation while respecting the values of integrity, teamwork, and balance
