THE ROLE:
The IT Support Specialist will report to the IT Director and is responsible for providing day-to-day IT support, troubleshooting, and oversight of hotel systems, hardware, and software at the property level. The role focuses on providing IT support to hotel staff and maintaining all hotel IT systems, ensuring technology solutions are used effectively to enhance hotel operations and staff efficiency. The IT Support Specialist will work closely with the Corporate IT team, liaising to obtain guidance, access additional IT resources, and ensure alignment with broader IT initiatives. They will also liaise with technology vendors to coordinate timely and effective service and support.
The IT Support Specialist is an entry-level position and provides first-level IT support to hotel staff, assisting with troubleshooting hardware, software, and system issues, as well as basic configuration and setup. The successful candidate will help maintain day-to-day technology operations and will receive guidance and training from the Corporate IT team.

This opportunity is property-based and located on-site at The Algonquin Resort, 184 Adolphus Street, St. Andrews, NB E5B 1T7.
ACTIVITIES:
- Provide day-to-day IT support to hotel staff, including troubleshooting desktops, laptops, printers, and other hardware.
- Support hotel systems, both guest-facing and back-of-house, including Property Management Systems (PMS), Restaurant Point of Sale (POS) systems, PBX phone systems, Wi-Fi/High-Speed Internet systems, TV systems, and other on-property technology.
- Assist with network troubleshooting and support for servers, switches, and basic connectivity issues.
- Respond to IT helpdesk requests and resolve Tier 1 issues promptly, escalating more complex issues to the Corporate IT team as needed.
- Support hotel staff with software installations, updates, password resets, and basic system configuration.
- Assist in ongoing hotel IT projects, such as system updates or implementations, under guidance from Corporate IT.
- Work with hotel staff to understand and document IT needs, escalating requirements to the Corporate IT team when necessary.
- Maintain hardware and software inventory, ensuring devices are properly configured and operational.
- Support technology vendors remotely and when on-property, including coordinating access and basic troubleshooting.
- Help maintain hotel IT standards and ensure systems are functioning according to brand and corporate requirements.
- Assist with reporting and documentation for IT systems, incidents, and project activities.
- Participate in learning opportunities to gain knowledge of new hospitality technologies and emerging trends.
- Provide general IT support to hotel staff and ad hoc assistance as required by the Corporate IT team.

COMPETENCIES WE ARE SEEKING:
- Some post-secondary education in Technology, Hospitality, or a related field, or currently enrolled in a relevant program; equivalent work experience or certifications will also be considered.
Knowledge, Experience and Skills Requirements:
- Some experience or familiarity with hotel IT or general IT support is preferred.
- Ability to assist with troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and system issues, including desktops, laptops, printers, and network connectivity.
- Basic understanding of front-office and back-office hotel systems is an asset, including Property Management Systems (PMS), Restaurant Point of Sale (POS) systems, PBX phone systems, Wi-Fi/High-Speed Internet, TV systems, and other on-property technology.
- Awareness of IT security best practices.
- Comfortable learning and supporting hotel systems and technology under guidance from the Corporate IT team.
- Ability to explain technical issues clearly to hotel staff in simple terms.
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to follow established procedures.
- Self-motivated and proactive in learning and supporting hotel IT operations.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Basic Microsoft Office 365 administration.
- Ability to work effectively with hotel staff, vendors, and the Corporate IT team.
- Flexible with working hours as needed to support hotel operations.
- Willingness to participate in learning new technologies and improving IT knowledge
