Who can apply

The position is located in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. If not already a resident in Whitehorse, YT, the selected candidate will have to relocate to Whitehorse. Remote work or telework is not possible.

Duties
The Human Resources Advisor will provide operational human resources services to the Yukon Field Unit in HR disciplines such as resourcing, classification and organization, learning, labour relations, employment equity, occupational safety and health, and/or human resource planning. The ideal candidate will be an HR generalist with a breadth of knowledge in HR disciplines and a depth of knowledge and expertise in resourcing, with a strong client focus.

Intent of the process
The purpose of this recruitment and selection process is to staff one (1) position for two (2) years. This process might be used to staff this (or similar) positions indeterminately in the future. This process will be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels or linguistic profiles in same or other parts of the country.

EDUCATION

⮩ Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology or any other field relevant to the work to be performed
Or
⮩ Certification as Chartered Professionals in Human Resources
Or
⮩ Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution and acceptable experience in human resources.
Or
⮩ Acceptable combination of education, training and experience comparable to a diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with a specialization related to the duties of the position. Notes: Indeterminate and term incumbents of positions in the PE group in Parks Canada Agency and the Public Service on or before October 3, 2008, and who do not possess the education level prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. We encourage candidates who do not have the required degree or certification to apply as an acceptable combination of education, training, and/or experience that is comparable to a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization relevant to the work to be performed may be considered on an exceptional basis. This alternative may be applied to meet Parks Canada diversity goals, to support career advancement for Parks Canada employees working within the HR function, or for processes with limited candidate pools.

EXPERIENCE:
• Experience in conducting research and analysis to provide advice or recommendations in a human resources discipline
• Experience delivering innovative and creative staffing recommendations to client managers
• Experience promoting diversity and inclusion initiatives within various HR disciplines (i.e. resourcing, training and development, wellness, etc.)

• Knowledge of laws, policies and trends relating to human resources management in the federal public service
