Req ID: 60875 Job Category: After-School Recreation Care Job Type: Temporary, Part-time Hourly Rate: $ 21.17 Number of Positions: TBD Start Date: TBD Work Location: All Districts District: City Wide - Various Season: Spring Duration: TBD Shift Information: TBD Division: Parks, Forestry & Recreation Section: PFR CR Community Recreation Posting End Date: 12/02/2025 Job Summary: To plan, lead and organize Ministry directed After-School Recreation Care (ARC) Programs for children (6-12 years) providing on-site program direction. Responsibilities: - Plans, leads and organizes ARC programs for children. - Provides recommendations regarding training, and evaluation of ARC program leaders seasonally. - Follows the Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD - HIGH FIVE®) in the planning and delivery of programs. - Ensures that program facilities, equipment and supplies meet Health and Safety standards and that all MSDS sheets for products used on site are in the Health and Safety binder and are current. - Provides on-site direction and general guidance to staff. - Performs administrative tasks to support the program, including assisting the Community Recreation Programmer with the purchase of program supplies. - Documents attendance of children, as per the safe arrival policy, follows up with any child who has not arrived at program in a timely manner where their absence has not been accounted for, up to calling police and follows serious occurrence procedures if necessary. Completes reports as needed. - Follows daily program plan to ensure that children are getting planned physical activity, healthy food choices and nutritional information, wellness and personal health education and local programming. - Assists staff with the integration and support of ARC participants with special needs. - Takes action to deal with incidents, problems and emergencies as outlined in Divisional/City policies and procedures. - Interacts with staff and the public to provide program information. - Liaises with caregivers and responds to inquiries. - Liaises with Divisions/staff and the public. - Attends and participates in meetings and training sessions. Qualifications: - Must be minimum 16 years of age. - Post-Secondary Education or continuously enrolled in one or more of the following: Major or Minor for: Early Childhood Educators – Registered ECE, Ontario College of Teacher, Child and Youth, Social Worker, Recreation and Leisure, Psychology, Sociology or Kinesiology - Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Standard First Aid – CPR C Certification including infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation as recognized by WSIB. - Experience working with Children in a leadership role and ability to supervise Children. - The ability to lift/carry equipment is required (weighing up to 20 kgs) - Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. - The ability to oversee and provide direction to site leaders. - Fundamental knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and the ability to meet the specifications of these acts and any other related regulations that apply to this work. - Ability to work as part of a team in developing and delivering high quality programming to children. ARC/CLASP offers programs in accordance with the Ministry of Education/'s Ontario/'s Pedagogy for the Early Years "How Does Learning Happen", the Child Care and Early Years Act, and the Principles of Healthy Child Development PHCD quality assessment program. - You possess certification in Parks and Recreation Ontario's Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD). This is a mandatory course that will be provided to you at no cost upon obtaining a conditional offer of employment. You will be provided with course dates and details at that time.
