RBI Spring Baseball For Development Coach The RBI Spring program is an afterschool baseball/softball program implemented with select Toronto District School Board (TDSB) schools. The program provides accessible and inclusive programming to students from grades 4-8. Beginning in April, the program runs afterschool for 11 weeks and concludes with an end of year final tournament in mid June. Students participate in weekly practices and organized games that are led by a trained Jays Care coach. Jays Care Foundation is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. REPORTS TO: Program Specialist, RBI Spring WORK LOCATION: Schools across Toronto (Etobicoke, York, North York and Scarborough areas). Coaches are responsible for their own travel arrangements. COMPENSATION: $20.50/hour APPLICATION DEADLINE: Friday, January 23rd, 2026. Applications will be processed and reviewed as they are received and interviews will be offered on a rolling basis. Responsibilities Attend all training, practices, games and final tournaments. Prepare weekly practice plans and game lineups that focus on promoting belonging and connection, are inclusive and use variations to keep all athletes included. Lead dynamic baseball/softball activities that are wildly fun and engaging that support the growth and development of athletes. Ensure that the field and/or practice space is physically and emotionally safe. Go above and beyond to create opportunities for all students to participate. Act as the liaison between Jays Care and the school in a highly professional manner. Support school staff in adhering to school policy and procedures. Complete any programming administrative tasks as required. Qualifications Experience creating opportunities for children and youth to get involved in sport and recreation. Experience playing and/or coaching baseball/softball or other sports. Ability to confidently demonstrate key baseball skills – including pitching, hitting, fielding, and throwing. Strong knowledge of baseball equipment, including gloves, bats, bases, and protective gear, with an understanding of proper use and maintenance. Experience working with children and youth in a sport and recreation capacity. High level of energy and a commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and fun environment for all participants. Positive attitude and the ability to motivate and keep children engaged. Ability to travel reliably to assigned school. Current Standard First Aid certification, or willing to obtain certification prior to the start of work contract. To protect our people, brand and assets, a pre‑employment background check will be conducted. As part of our selection process, all candidates must clear a criminal background check.
