About the Position

We are looking for a Senior Specialist, French Writing and Translation to join the marketing team in our Montréal office. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the successful applicant is responsible for writing and translating the firm's communications, ensuring high-quality, clear and well-adapted content for French-speaking audiences.

The incumbent translates and adapts documents written in English into French, ensuring accuracy while maintaining the appropriate tone, style and terminology in line with the firm's standards. They also contribute to the development of original French content to support the firm's communication and business development initiatives.

Working closely with the Marketing, Administrative Services, and Lawyers' teams, they actively participate in the development of communication strategies and ensure the alignment of French-language content with the firm's overall objectives.

Primary Responsibilities

- Translating and adapting marketing content, ensuring linguistic and legal nuances are taken into account
- Writing and structuring documents in French, according to best communication practices and the firm's priorities
- Ensuring terminological and stylistic consistency of French communications in collaboration with internal teams
- Contributing to the development and ongoing update of the firm's editorial and linguistic standards guide
- Providing linguistic support to team members and acting as a reference for writing and translation best practices
- Developing and delivering training sessions or reference materials to enhance the quality of French communications

Skills and Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in translation, writing, French studies or a related field
- At least seven years of experience in translation within a legal, professional services or corporate setting
- Excellent command of written French and demonstrated ability to write and translate clear and precise texts
- Strong comprehension of English and ability to adapt content effectively for the target audience
- Meticulous attention to detail and linguistic precision to ensure error-free and well-adapted content
- Proficiency with computer-assisted translation tools and Microsoft Office software
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under tight deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with various teams

Assets

- Law degree or experience working in a law firm
- Familiarity with legal terminology and concepts
- Practical knowledge of NetDocuments, Monday.com and Foundation
