Position purpose:

Assumes responsibility for the partial designation of the University of Ottawa with regard to the French-Language Services Act of Ontario. Ensures that the University complies with the provisions of this Act, develops the necessary policies and procedures, ensures that they are applied as required and is held accountable for such to both the University and to the provincial government. Assumes responsibility for managing the complaint mechanism that applies to the language of service at the University of Ottawa. To do so, works in close cooperation with various services and academic units, and reports regularly to the Council on French Services and Programs and its subcommittees. Responsible for creating and implementing the University of Ottawa's plan to comply with Ontario's Aménagement Linguistique Policy and be held accountable to the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

What you will bring:

- University education in a relevant field, such as administration or education
- Knowledge of the issues surrounding bilingualism and French-language services in a minority-language setting
- Knowledge of the Francophonie in Ontario challenges, with regards to postsecondary education, as well as Francophone organizations within the province.
- Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating organizational policies, guidelines and procedures, preferably in a university setting
- Experience in providing customer service and in managing complaints
- Experience in drafting reports based on the research and analysis of relevant data
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and conflict-management skills
- Bilingualism — English/French (spoken and written)

*This position may be eligible for a telework arrangement.
