Reporting to the Safety Manager, you will be responsible for assisting with loss prevention/control systems, as they relate to health and safety and in providing technical support for improvement efforts.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for our employees.
Responsibilities
1. Assist management with the development and implementation of a safety management system aimed at preventing and controlling losses
2. Participate in incident prevention activities, including inspections, observations and incident investigations
3. Act in an advisory capacity to management and may serve as a liaison with governmental agencies as necessary
4. Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety regulations and standards
5. Provide training and education on health and safety procedures to employees
6. Investigate accidents and incidents and develop strategies to prevent reoccurrence
Requirements
1. Preference will be given to candidates with a post-secondary degree and/or certificate in Occupational Safety and Health or CRSP/CHSC designation (preferred)
2. Knowledge of safety and health regulations and standards
3. Knowledge of industrial hygiene
4. Demonstrated experience with WCB processes and return to work programs
5. Previous experience in a 7/24 manufacturing environment
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
8. Detail-oriented and highly organized
9. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and safety management software
10. Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
