POSITION SUMMARY

Facilities Maintenance
The primary responsibility of the Facilities Maintenance & Work Therapy Coordinator is to perform general building and property maintenance, and to coordinate and communicate with outside contractors when required. The incumbent is responsible for the supervision of facilities staff and client work therapy activities. Duties will include tending to the utility systems, performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of a need for repairs. Additionally, they shall ensure that the grounds are maintained appropriately and must be knowledgeable about Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, the proper use and administration of PPE, and WHMIS.

Work Therapy Coordinator
The primary responsibility of the Work Therapy Coordinator is to implement, evaluate, and promote the Work Therapy component of Teen Challenge Canada's residential alcohol and drug addiction faith-based program. The incumbent is responsible for the Work Therapy supervision of all clients enrolled in Teen Challenge's program. Responsibilities include: ensuring clients are assigned and scheduled to appropriate Work Therapy tasks, promoting and ensuring the health and safety of clients, training and orientating new and/or reinstated clients on proper work procedures, cultivating a respectful atmosphere and work ethic with Biblically-based expectations, while mentoring and guiding clients on a daily basis.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Facilities Maintenance

- Perform repairs on windows, doors, desks, tables, equipment, appliances, sinks, toilets, blinds, walls and other repairs as needed
- Perform snow removal, drinking water system and waste water systems monitoring, heating and cooling operation, back-up generator testing, and other daily activities
- Request quotes, supervise work and ensure all invoices are directed to appropriate areas
- Contact appropriate contractors for major repairs, inspections and tests, and maintain work insurance clearance certificates
- Provide emergency maintenance services by remaining on-call 24/7
- Oversee mechanical work for onsite fleet vehicles
- Coordination of the recycling and garbage program
- Read equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service

Health and Safety

- Ensure each client has adequate training on Work Therapy procedures
- Provide clients appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when applicable, and equip clients with the knowledge and proper instructions to complete daily assigned tasks and use of any equipment
- Ensure compliance with current laws and legislation pertaining to Health and Safety legislation
- Exercise the Internal Responsibility System (IRS) on a regular basis, by identifying and reporting risks and hazards as they arise
- Ensure every exit/entrance is free of debris and/or tripping hazards
- Work in collaboration with government agencies on an as-needed-basis
- Conduct monthly fire drills and complete necessary record keeping to ensure compliance with the Fire Safety Plan and Fire Code
- Ensure compliance with current Health and Safety regulations and WHMIS requirements
- Oversee monthly first aid kit inspections and replace contents as necessary

Security

- Coordinate key and code distribution for security purposes
- Perform monitoring of the security system to prevent breaches

Work Therapy Coordinator

- Provide clients with daily work assignments and ensure any necessary daily work assignment are filled
- Supervise clients as they carry out Work Therapy tasks and assignments to ensure work objectives are met in a manner that is consistent with Teen Challenge's program
- Communicate with other appropriate staff, any client-related absences or changes to the Work Therapy schedule that may occur
- Resolve any conflicts that may occur with respect and integrity
- Mentor and guide clients based upon Biblical scriptures and principles
- Provide feedback to Addictions Counsellors related to client behaviour
- Train clients how to utilize small hand tools, lawn mower, snow plow, yard vehicles and other equipment as required
- Oversee lawn maintenance including, cutting grass, weeding, pruning, salting lane ways and snow removal, and other duties assigned to clients

Administrative

- Responsible for ensuring inventory supplies and tools are restocked and properly stored
- Read equipment manuals to ensure proper maintenance and use
- Record client related absences and all other pertinent information as required
