Position Overview

The Materials Manager will report to the Site Director and will be responsible for the receipt, recording, storing, issuance tracking and planning of critical materials and equipment on the DNNP Project. This position is also responsible for management of the overall site logistics as well as the Tools and Equipment. This role will require continuous communication with all project team members and will be responsible for identifying and implementing continuous improvements of material handling methods.

Location

The position will be based on our project in Darlington, ON.

Responsibilities

- To prepare and execute, in collaboration with the Procurement Director and Quality Director, the project Materials Management Plan.
- To identify, establish and manage all warehousing, laydown yards, staffing and equipment associated with the receipt, storage and issuance of project materials, tools and equipment.
- To oversee the operation of the site logistics team to ensure adequate laydown areas, traffic routes and drawings are updated.
- To establish, in collaboration with Procurement and Quality Managers, the material control procedures related to inventory management, preventative maintenance and storage.
- To participate, develop and adhere to all project budget and schedule requirements.
- To implement and supervise activities such as maintaining accurate and up to date status of materials and equipment for the upcoming work, forecast deliveries and action shortages.
- Provide Construction Manager with the availability of materials and equipment for upcoming work, forecast deliveries and action shortages.
- Ensure all material and equipment is properly handled, controlled, stored and maintained in accordance with project procedures, specifications and vendor requirements.
- Coordinate all materials handling, ensuring the availability of sufficient manpower and equipment.
- To ensure that sufficient qualified material control personnel are assigned to carry out the tasks as defined in the Material Management Plan.
- Expediting of Materials and Services in order to meet project schedules.
- Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with both quality teams and TSSA.
- To oversee operation of the Tools and Equipment department, ensuring tooling is ordered, stocked, and tool cribs are operated.
- Perform regular field tours to check work progress and meet with project site personnel.
- Conduct and lead weekly meetings with the project management team.
- Carry out site safety inspections.
- Coordinate with IPD partners for the delivery of major equipment.
- Participate in regular schedule reviews.
- Review and approve purchasing requisitions, subcontracts, and invoice payments, within Limits of Authority.
- Participate in company-wide initiatives aimed at overall continuous improvement.
- Review and approve timesheets, expense reports, vacation requests, and training requests, within Limits of Authority.
- Responsible for performance management of all direct-report employees, including: coaching/mentoring, assistance with career planning and training, preparation of yearly and mid-year performance reviews.
- Ensure all project staff and direct reports understand and comply with applicable code of conduct policies.
- Responsible for managing both office and trade staff, including site and off site-based personnel.

Qualifications

- Technical (Engineering or Engineering Technology) education an asset.
- 10+ years of EPC Materials Management, logistics and nuclear required.
- Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
- Strong skills in MS Excel required.
- Knowledge of SharePoint and SAP applications an asset.
- Ability to identify, handle and store Construction Materials and consumables.
- Familiarity with the Bruce Power and/or OPG catalogue ID requirements an asset.
- Working knowledge of Nuclear Codes & Standards as they relate to procurement activities.
- Basic knowledge of other material or component codes and standards would be an asset.
- Excellent planning, decision making, negotiation and time management skills are essential.
- Must be willing to travel as necessary for various work locations (field and office).
- Comfortable working in areas with loud noises, and mobile equipment.
- Requirement to wear PPE (Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Steel Toe Boots and Vest) when required.
