Job Description

The Material Manager will oversee the receipt, storage, and issuance of critical materials and equipment on the DNNP Project. This role requires continuous communication with all project team members and involves identifying and implementing continuous improvements of material handling methods.

Responsibilities:

  • To prepare and execute the project Materials Management Plan in collaboration with the Procurement Director and Quality Director.
  • To identify, establish, and manage warehousing, laydown yards, staffing, and equipment associated with the receipt, storage, and issuance of project materials, tools, and equipment.
  • To oversee the operation of the site logistics team to ensure adequate laydown areas, traffic routes, and drawings are updated.
  • To establish material control procedures related to inventory management, preventative maintenance, and storage in collaboration with Procurement and Quality Managers.
  • To participate in developing and adhering to project budget and schedule requirements.
  • To implement and supervise activities such as maintaining accurate status of materials and equipment for upcoming work, forecasting deliveries, and addressing shortages.
  • To provide Construction Manager with the availability of materials and equipment for upcoming work, forecast deliveries, and address shortages.
  • To ensure all material and equipment is properly handled, controlled, stored, and maintained in accordance with project procedures, specifications, and vendor requirements.
  • To coordinate all materials handling, ensuring the availability of sufficient manpower and equipment.
  • To ensure sufficient qualified material control personnel are assigned to carry out tasks as defined in the Material Management Plan.
  • To expedite materials and services to meet project schedules.
  • To develop and maintain a strong working relationship with quality teams and TSSA.
  • To oversee the operation of the Tools and Equipment department, ensuring tooling is ordered, stocked, and tool cribs are operated.
  • To perform regular field tours to check work progress and meet with project site personnel.
  • To conduct and lead weekly meetings with the project management team.
  • To carry out site safety inspections.
  • To coordinate with IPD partners for the delivery of major equipment.
  • To participate in regular schedule reviews.
  • To review and approve purchasing requisitions, subcontracts, and invoice payments within Limits of Authority.
  • To participate in company-wide initiatives aimed at overall continuous improvement.
  • To review and approve timesheets, expense reports, vacation requests, and training requests within Limits of Authority.
  • To be responsible for the performance management of all direct-report employees, including coaching/mentoring, assistance with career planning and training, preparation of yearly and mid-year performance reviews.
  • To ensure all project staff and direct reports understand and comply with applicable code of conduct policies.
  • To be responsible for managing both office and trade staff, including site and off-site-based personnel.
