Calgary, Canada BigGeo Inc. Full time

BigGeo is pioneering the future of geospatial intelligence with an AI-ready Discrete Global Grid System (DGGS) that transforms how spatial data is captured, indexed, and monetized. Our platform delivers scalable data infrastructure, real-time visualization, and precision insights for industries where location drives outcomes—telecommunications, climate, defense, emergency response, and beyond. We partner with enterprises and governments to accelerate decision-making, unlock new revenue streams, and power the next generation of geospatial applications.

We are a startup in scale mode. Our team is multidisciplinary, entrepreneurial, and driven by clarity of execution. The COO will be at the centre of turning strategic goals into operational momentum.

Role Overview

The COO will serve as the executional backbone of BigGeo building structure, cadence, and clarity across teams to translate vision into outcomes. This role is responsible for unifying internal operations, aligning product delivery with go-to-market objectives, and ensuring the company is primed to scale responsibly, securely, and efficiently.

This is not a maintenance role. It’s a build, scale, and optimize role.

Key Responsibilities

- Own cross-functional execution of quarterly and annual company goals (OKRs)
- Drive accountability and coordination across product, engineering, sales, and other departments
- Build and manage internal operating rhythms (e.g., sprint planning, product reviews, exec syncs, monthly reporting)
- Translate strategic vision into operational plans with clear KPIs and measurable outcomes
- Ensure the product roadmap is tightly aligned with business priorities and team capacity
- Oversee execution of key product initiatives across technical and go-to-market teams
- Align engineering, design, and sales functions to ensure timely delivery and market relevance
- Operate as a high-leverage operator—able to accelerate progress across functions without displacing team ownership
- Partner with the CEO and sales leadership to ensure operations drive revenue growth
- Monitor funnel performance and ensure seamless handoffs between marketing, sales, and implementation
- Support enterprise sales cycles, especially where technical scoping, compliance, or delivery timelines are involved
- Help operationalize strategic partnerships, including those in telco, government, and AI platform ecosystems
- Ensure business continuity and operational risk plans are implemented, tested, and maintained
- Identify and execute on org design needs (e.g., new roles, team structures, or capacity shifts)
- Support HR and the Chief of Staff in implementing hiring, onboarding, review, and performance frameworks

Ideal Candidate

- 7–10+ years of experience in fast-scaling tech startups or SaaS environments, ideally in enterprise SaaS or platform infrastructure
- 5+ years in a senior leadership role (e.g., VP, GM, or COO capacity) overseeing cross-functional teams
- Proven track record of operational leadership across product, engineering, and GTM functions
- Experienced in navigating enterprise sales cycles, compliance frameworks (e.g., SOC 2), and complex technical deployments
- Highly organized and process-driven, with the ability to operate amid ambiguity and evolving priorities
- Willing to get hands-on when needed, but skilled in building systems and empowering teams
- Strong judgment around when to scale process and when to maintain flexibility—ensures structure enables momentum

Nice to Haves

- Experience with data monetization, telco partnerships, or government contracts
- Background in technical product management or systems implementation
- Familiarity with venture-backed startup environments, investor reporting, and cap table dynamics
