**Job Opportunity: Coordinator, Educational Programming (Full-time 40 hours weekly)**

**Position Description**

Reporting to the Manager, Educational Programming, the **Full-Time Coordinator**, Educational Programming is responsible for providing leadership and assistance with Empowerment Squared’s After school Educational Programming, **Homework Circle **and other educational initiatives for newcomer and marginalized youth to further Empowerment Squared’s mission and vision.

The **Full-Time Coordinator**, Educational Programming will work alongside the Manager of Educational Programming and Part-Time Coordinator, Educational Programming to facilitate the **Homework Circle **program and participate in strategic planning, outreach and administration.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Working days are **non-negotiable**, Monday-Friday (days of after school programming **:Tuesdays,** **Wednesdays, Thursdays)**
- Must have access to transportation
- Will be required to work in-person at the Empowerment Squared office in Hamilton (all necessary precautions would be taken in accordance with health & safety guidelines)
- Responsible for administration support including managing attendance and enrollment lists, reminder calls, answering phone calls, data entry and filing
- Creating and implementing curriculum from an anti-racist framework
- Collaborating with Educational Programming colleagues in strategic planning for programming
- Onsite training will be provided
- Working with Black and newcomer youth and communicating with guardians/ adults
- Working and communicating collaboratively with a team of colleagues, in particular collaborating with the Part-Time Coordinator, Educational Programming
- Assist with outreach and recruitment support for programs and volunteers
- Support volunteer onboarding activities including hosting training sessions
- Support program close out activities which would include reports, evaluations and meetings etc.
- Responsible for facilitating various programs including Educational Programming
- Allocate and organize work plans and resources effectively
- Identify, anticipate, and document issues and risks and provide mitigation recommendations in collaboration with the Part-Time Coordinator, Educational Programming
- Escalate key issues/risks to Manager, Educational Programming and ensure timely action to maintain project timelines
- Will sometimes have to work outside of normal office hours to facilitate Educational Programming
- Speaking Arabic, Farsi, French, or Ukrainian will be an asset
- Flexible to perform other duties as required

**Relevant Skills & Qualifications**
- Familiarity with Hamilton’s Black and newcomer communities and Black and newcomer youth engagement is an asset

**-**Demonstrated leadership experience working with equity-deserving groups including not for profit organizations, community groups, businesses, schools and other community stakeholders.
- Proven organizational and time management skills including the ability to work with tight deadlines and competing priorities, both independently and collaboratively
- Excellent verbal and written communication, active listening, research, and reading skills
- Ability to put together and make presentations that include topics such as project status, milestones, achievements, budget and risk management
- Comfortable and flexible working in a fast-paced environment

**Educational Requirements**
- Minimum grade 12 education
- University degree or college diploma in social sciences, social work, education is an asset
- Experience or certification working with ESL/ELL students (e.g. TESOL) is an asset
