Scarborough, Canada Momiji Health Care Society Full time

Momiji Health Care Society is a non-profit organization providing services to senior citizens of primarily Japanese-Canadian descent, in an effort to maximize their independence, health, and quality of life. We have been approved for funding under the Canada Summer Jobs Grant and are currently seeking seven (7) summer youth (aged 15-30) employees for various departments at Momiji.

**Only Youth (aged 15-30) are eligible for this position**

**Working Term**:420-hour contract, approximately 30 hours per week for 14 weeks.

**Start Date**:Interviews May 1st to May 5th, Mandatory Orientation May 16th

**Position Summary: Geriatric Social (Service) Worker *On-Site**
- Assisting with developing and coordinating in-person/virtual workshops for seniors and caregivers, which focuses on senior’s physical/mental wellness and educational information.
- Updating Momiji applicants file, including entering the annual health survey data, making follow-up calls, updating clients’ information in our system.
- Supporting Momiji tenants and community seniors by providing emotional support, information and referral services and advocacy where appropriate.
- Assisting the department’s other projects and daily tasks, including resource development for Momiji tenants and community clients.

**General Duties**:

- Participate in other duties as directed by supervisor
- Attend staff or committee meetings as assigned
- Some light lifting or physical activity may be required
- Enthusiastic team player with good communication skills
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written, are essential
- Computer skills with Microsoft Office are required to assist with tasks
- Knowledge and understanding of Japanese Canadian culture and/or Japanese language is an asset

Appropriate levels of PPE is provided to all staff depending on their position. Our facilities are sanitized throughout the day. Extensive training on proper hygiene, safety protocols, and policies are provided with constant supervision.
