Friends of Ruby is dedicated to the journey and well-being of 2SLGBTQIA+ youth, aged 16-29 through mental health services, social services, and housing. Friends of Ruby offers Youth Mental Health services, a Youth Drop-In Centre, and a Transitional Home. The Centre provides access to barrier-free counselling and therapeutic groups, case management and a drop-in space with hot meals, community, and comprehensive programming. The Home provides transitional and emergency housing, mental health, and life-skills to support youth moving towards independent living.

**Position Summary**

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Housing Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a transitional housing shelter for 2SLGBTQIA+ youth. The Housing Manager will be responsible for creating a safe and supportive environment for residents, managing staff, coordinating services, and ensuring the smooth functioning of the House.

The manager's focus will be providing oversight of the facility, services and programs using a youth-centered, trauma-informed, and harm-reduction approach. The manager will also be required to collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders.

**_**Duties and Responsibilities**

Operational:

- Provide leadership and supervision to housing staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement programming and services that support the physical, emotional, and social well-being of residents.
- Provide orientation and professional development opportunities for frontline staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
- Collaborate with community partners and service providers to connect residents to resources such as healthcare, education, employment, and mental health support.
- Manage the intake process for new residents, including assessments, goal-setting, and individualized service planning.
- Ensure effective case management oversight and engagement of youth within the housing program.
- Address crisis situations, manage on-call responsibilities, and determine staffing requirements.
- Ensure residents' physical, social, and developmental needs are met within the facility.
- Uphold the organization's values and mission in all interactions with residents, staff, and external stakeholders.


Reporting & Analytics:

- Prepare regular reports and updates on program activities, outcomes, and impact for internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate with the drop-in supervisor for programming.
- Manage the department's budget and all financial tasks.
- Ensure compliance and reporting with all FoR policies and procedures
- Lead the Occupational health and safety compliance and filing.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to resident services, incidents, and outcomes.

People Management:

- Mentor team members, fostering a culture of inclusion, diversity, equity and belonging promotion professional growth and development opportunities.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to the members of the team, recognizing achievements and addressing areas of improvement.
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive community atmosphere that respects diversity and promotes acceptance.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, teamwork, innovation, and accountability withing the programs and services at the House promoting effective communication and problem-solving.
- Support recruitment, orientation, and training of staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels.

**Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a youth shelter or similar setting, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of 2SLGBTQIA+ issues, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction principles mental health, criminal justice system, concurrent disorders, and supportive housing.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention skills.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid, CPI, ASIST, SMIS and Naloxone training (or willingness to obtain)
- High level of computer literacy with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with Landlord Tenant Act and Mental Health Act.
- Satisfactory clearance under Police Background Check and vulnerable sector screening.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Must be qualified to legally work in Canada.
