Due to our growing demand, we are looking to hire an ambitious and dedicated Controller who is looking to pursue a full-time position with a well-established employer.
This position is right for you; if you have a CPA with minimum 3-5 years experience at a controllership level. The controller will work under the direction of the CFO and in collaboration with all relative departments for their area(s) of assignment.
**Qualifications**:
- CPA with minimum 5 years experience at controllership level working in a multi-family residential or similar development/construction company
- Tech-savvy, with advanced level of Excel skills and experience using Quickbooks Enterprise would be an asset
- Possess strong leadership skills with effective participation in team environment
- Proven knowledge and ability in critical thinking, decision-solving, risk management, and process improvement utilizing new technologies and financial tools
- Highly analytical, open minded, detail-oriented team player with the ability to manage multiple tasks and communicate effectively
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal and ability to influence others
- Self-starter with an eye towards accuracy and inefficiency elimination
- Innovative mindset to improve operational efficiencies and ability to influence change
- Experience with ERP implementation would be an asset
**Position Responsibilities**:
- Oversee full cycle project accounting including construction billing, A/Ps and bank reconciliations for the development projects
- Maintain project-related records, including contracts and change orders
- Authorize the transfer of expenses into and out of project-related accounts
- Review and determine overhead charges applied to a project
- Investigate and clearly communicate project variances and submit variance reports to management
- Oversee the payment of all contracts, change orders, and purchases on agreed upon terms
- Review and recommend policies, processes and procedures to ensure continuous improvement from both an operational and control perspective
- Be actively involved in month-end and year-end activities including journal entries, variance analysis and reconciling balance sheet accounts
- Develop and implement appropriate KPI reporting for department and project reporting
- Prepare financial reporting to the investors and lenders
- Process loan draw requests on a monthly basis
- Prepare year-end audit and tax schedules for returns filed by external accountants
- Lead various improvement projects relating to finance initiatives
- Oversee the reporting construction budget process and related forecasts
- Assist with the financial implementation of a new ERP system, including developing new processes, controls, reporting and analysis
