What You’ll Be Doing

This position supports the CIBC online brokerage arm: CIBC Investor Services Inc encompassing CIBC Imperial Investor Service and CIBC Investor’s Edge. CIBC Investor Services Inc. provides a comprehensive retail brokerage offer to self-directed investors and is also the platform that supports CIBC's high value investment offer, CIBC Imperial Investor Service. CIBC Investor’s Edge is the brokerage platform for totally self-directed clients.

This role reports to the Senior Manager, Governance and Controls and is accountable for assisting in Tier 1 supervision/oversight within CIBC Investor's Edge (IE). As an assistant Branch Manager, you will be accountable to provide leadership, expertise, guidance, support and training to all branch staff as it relates to regulatory supervision. You'll ensure the branch's adherence to industry regulations and acceptable standards of business ethics and conduct. You'll help design and implement processes and controls to mitigate risks within the business. You 'll also recommend strategies to assist employees and the business in reducing/mitigate areas of risk.

How You’ll Succeed- Trading and Account Supervision - Perform ongoing supervision/oversight of all regulatory and compliance activities of the branches. Complete and provide evidence of and follow up on any deficiencies.- Leading and Relationship Building - Mentor, train and motivate new Investment Representative (IRs). Timely collaborate and liaise with multiple external and internal partners.- Operational Excellence and Auditing - Proactively identifying areas of risk, developing actions plans to address exposure and participating in implementation plans. Support in the supervision of activities of each subbranch office; support for branch audits (i.e., reviews being conducted by Compliance, AML, or CIRO).

Who You Are- You have extensive expertise in investment and wealth management, financial services and brokerage industry landscape. Registered (or working towards registration) as a Supervisor with CIRO.- You have a successfully completed or working towards completion of the following courses: the Canadian Securities Course (CSC); the Conduct and Practices Handbook and Investment Dealers Supervisors Course (IDSC). Completion of the Derivative Fundamentals and Option Licensing Course (DFOL); and the Options Supervisory Course (OSC); is considered an asset.- You have a developed knowledge of business controls, business processes, AML, CIRO regulatory requirements and other regulatory bodies.- You are a bold and accountable leader. You’re able to analyze, clearly communicate and convey potential risk situations and implications and provide training to branch staff and other partners.- Values matter to you.
