**Role**

The BRM position works closely with IT Project Managers, Business Analysts, and business departments. Each BRM position will be assigned to work with certain departments, such as Planning & Development, Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services, People & Culture etc.

**Duties/Responsibilities**:

- Builds and maintains strong relationships with business partners and acts as a liaison between information services teams and the business partner. Page 2 of 3
- Acts as an advisor to business partners to shape their strategy about technology and ensure they are aware of IT service offerings.
- Promotes business projects and value to the IT leaders and community.
- Works with business analysts to help their business units define new capabilities.
- Defines, prioritizes, and manages program and project initiatives.
- Tracks ROI for business initiatives including cost, benefits, and risk.
- Helps define and communicate new services to support business needs.
- Participates in development of business strategic planning and IT strategic planning.
- Assists in the development of metrics used to track value delivery.

Provides details on cost, value, and opportunity to optimize IT spend (initiatives and support services) Communicates business needs with appropriate IT solution center to gain alignment between business needs and technical capabilities.
- Gathers high-level business requirements and defines scope during initial discovery by conducting meetings/interviews and facilitating large group/cross-functional sessions with partners.
- Leads in the development of business cases requiring IT-based solutions.
- Establishes initial vendor relationships and maintains a forward-looking view of vendor direction.
- Interfaces with vendors to understand whether vendor products will meet business requirements.
- Refines SLAs based on business need.
- Maintains up-to-date awareness of industry and technology trends and makes recommendations for implementation of new/upgraded systems and technologies.
- Maintains knowledge of multiple business functions and initiatives to identify where conflicts/synergies exist between technologies and business functions.
- Ensures the business units understand the technology solution, overall solution delivery, and compliance to governance processes, architecture standards, etc.
- Works with Enterprise Architects to participate in Technology Road mapping for respective business units and integrates initiatives into IT Portfolio processes by collaborating with systems development, support, and project delivery teams.
- Participates in trials and the piloting of new tools; provide appropriate support and expertise in testing procedures and the development of appropriate testing standards, testing and distribution, implementation, and reporting; tracking and project planning support.

**Experience**
- 5-10 years experience in a Business Relationship Management
- Minimum of six years of current, relevant experience working in a medium to large-sized IT department/organization working with multiple teams of technical staff; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- Minimum 5 years with implementing SaaS and COTS products in a hybrid of business solutions.
- Experience as a digital strategist, of implementing data-driven digital service initiatives or of largescale cloud based digital transformation is highly desirable.
- Experience in Business Requirements Engineering
- Government Experience (asset but not mandatory)
- Experience in Project Management and/or Change Management is desirable

**Qualifications**
- Demonstrated advanced and current IT knowledge.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
- Strong analytical skills to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources. Page 3 of 3
- Ability to distinguish presented user requests from the underlying true needs and distinguish solution ideas from requirements.
- Ability to manage stakeholder expectations and resolve conflicts.
- Ability to lead requirements elicitation workshops.
- Ability to validate data obtained via other techniques and expose new areas for elicitation.
- Familiarity with requirements engineering practices and resources.
- Knowledge of product management concepts
- Strong organizational skills and ability to meet changing priorities and multi-task while meeting strict deadlines.
- Must be a collaborator and work well with cross-departmental teams.
- Commitment to regular ongoing professional development (including leadership and specific IT skills, professional associations, and current industry trends)
- High level of professionalism and ethics
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
- Help create a culture inside and outside. A trusted, friendly, and accessible source for knowledge and help

**Certification**
- BRM / PMI / PMI-PBA would be an asset.
- Applied knowledge of change management methodology (e.g., Prosci) is an asset.
