**Work Week**:Up to 40 hours per week for up to 11 weeks*; Monday to Friday, May 28-August 26, 2024 (Week off: August 5-9) *Dependent upon Canada Summer Jobs grant funding

**Contract Commitments**: 7 weeks of day camp & additional training and prep dates (TBC)

**Mandatory Training**:

- Worksite Orientation (May, TBC)
- Vancouver Citywide Day Camp Manager Training (May 29, 12:00-5:00pm)
- Vancouver Citywide Day Camp Leader Training (June 15, 9:15am-5:15pm)
- Additional program planning, skills training and preparation shifts (May-June, TBC)

**Rate of Pay**:

- $23.00/hour + 4% in lieu of vacation and stat holidays
- Additional $290 Transportation Allowance will be given at the completion of contract

Qualifications:

- Experience working with youth ages 11-16 years of age in a recreational or educational program setting
- Knowledge of a wide variety of age appropriate activities for youth in the areas of sports, arts and outdoor recreation
- Valid First Aid and CPR Level C certification (or the ability to obtain certification before start date)
- Demonstrates ability to navigate emergencies, unusual incidents and behavioral challenges
- Minimum first year college or university education in a related field is desirable
- Strong leadership, administration, planning, problem-solving and communication skills
- Experience/certification in dragon boating/kayaking is an asset

**Under the direction of the Youth Leader, the Day Camp Project Manager has the following duties and responsibilities**:

- Recruit, train and supervise the Day Camp Leaders (Sr. & Jr.) and volunteers to ensure everyone is contributing towards a positive camp experience
- Provide direction and clarity while encouraging input from participants, day camp leaders, and the Youth Leader
- Facilitate program planning by administering age-appropriate programming, complete activity bookings and creating weekly/monthly schedules
- Conduct administrative tasks which include identifying equipment needs, program supply shopping, and monitor staff hours to assist with timesheet entry
- Complete budget management along with reconciliation of credit card and petty cash funds
- Actively ensure safety of children, volunteers and staff through following safety guidelines, communicating risk management procedures, participating in program out-trips and administering first aid when needed
- Liaise and communicate with parents and/or guardians who have questions/concerns regarding the Day Camp programs and work with the Youth Leader to resolve any issues
- Conduct weekly debriefs with staff team and provide a mid-summer feedback/evaluation meeting
- Prepare a final program evaluation report at the end of contract

**Terms/Conditions of Employment**:

- In compliance with the Canada Summer Jobs Grant guidelines, all applicants must:

- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
- Satisfy the requirements of a Police Information Check vulnerable sectors search prior to the program start

**Salary**: $23.00 per hour
