**Atlohsa Family Healing Services** is seeking a motivated and dynamic individual to fill the role of Community **Capacity Builder** on the Action Research for Chronic Homelessness (ARCH) project within the Giwetashkad Indigenous Homelessness Team. The primary role of the Community Capacity Builder is to assist the activities to the research project, including community engagement with Indigenous peoples experiencing homelessness as well as service providers in the housing and homelessness field. Following the community engagement process, the Community Capacity Builder will implement policy recommendations for increasing capacity for culturally safe and Indigenous-led best practices in London’s housing and homelessness system through curriculum development and hosting training and education sessions with service providers.

**Role and Responsibility**

Working as part of the Giwetashkad Indigenous Homelessness team and using a wholistic Indigenous-led approach rooted in Indigenous educational pedagogy, the Community Capacity Builder will work collaboratively with the project team to develop training curriculum on topics such as Indigenous-led and culturally relevant screening tools and assessments, culturally safe procedures and practices for housing and homelessness service pathways, Indigenous self-identification and data quality, trauma-informed and decolonizing care approaches, Indigenous harm reduction, and Indigenous homelessness (for both virtual and in-person sessions). The Community Capacity Builder will be responsible for organizing training sessions, all event logistics, collaboratively preparing, writing, and drafting educational content for training sessions, and overseeing post-training feedback surveys. The successful applicant will navigate complex group discussions about colonization, systemic racism, and power dynamics in social service delivery in a respectful and welcoming way while stimulating critical reflection.

**Suitability**
- While a formal education such as a university or college degree in social work/social services, education, or a related field is an asset, applicants with equivalent work, community or lived experience are encouraged to apply.
- Experience working with Indigenous people experiencing homelessness.
- Strong analysis of colonialism and the ways in which historical and ongoing colonization impacts Indigenous peoples intergenerationally.
- Understanding of cultural safety and systemic racism including awareness of its impacts on practical care provided to Indigenous peoples.
- Demonstrated skills in facilitation, public speaking, curriculum development, community development, and problem-solving.
- Skills in relationship building, conflict resolution or restorative justice, and negotiation (to build trust and resolve disagreements)
- Ability to receive supervision, support, direction and constructive feedback, and take initiative to ask questions and clarify tasks and information
- Excellent organizational and coordination skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple competing workload demandsin fast paced environment.
- Effective communication (both written and verbal) and inter-personal skills with the ability to interact with others in a respectful manner as defined in the Atlohsa Code of Conduct.
- Ability to work in outdoor locations and minor physical labour such as gathering poles and lodge building.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License, First Aid and CPR certificate and Current Vulnerable Sector Check Proficient in Microsoft Office

**EMPLOYMENT TERM**: Full-time contract to March 31, 2025

**REMUNERATION**: $25-28 per hour dependent on experience and qualifications**
