**Job Description**:
Langara, also known as snəw̓eyəɬ leləm̓, a name given to it by the Musqueam people on whose unceded traditional territory the College is located, is committed to supporting and fostering excellence in teaching and curriculum design. The Teaching & Curriculum Development Centre (TCDC) encourages innovation and excellence in curriculum development and program design; supports faculty in maintaining and improving Langara's high standards of teaching and learning; and fosters intercultural awareness and understanding in a collegial environment with services, resources, and activities to meet the College’s educational goals.

The Curriculum Consultant, Indigenization Specialist, provides expertise, support, and guidance in embedding an awareness of Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing into instruction and curriculum at Langara. Reporting to the Department Chair, Teaching and Curriculum Development Centre (TCDC), the Indigenization Specialist is part of the TCDC faculty and works closely with academic departments, the Indigenous Education & Services department, and the Centre for Intercultural Engagement. The Curriculum Consultant, Indigenization Specialist guides faculty members and departments in the development of curriculum that enhances knowledge of Indigenous histories, perspectives, methodologies, and cultural practices; develops resources and facilitates workshops for faculty members about Indigenization; supports the program review process with a view to Indigenizing curriculum across the College; and works closely with colleagues across the institution to assist in building capacity in Indigenization, decolonization, and reconciliation.
- Duties and Responsibilities:
- support departments and faculty to ethically engage with, explore, and deepen their understanding of Indigenous pedagogies, Indigenous knowledges, and practices of decolonization in the classroom-
- support faculty individually or in groups to develop Indigenized learning outcomes at the course and program level-
- work with other Curriculum Consultants and EdTech Advisors on incorporating Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing when designing, developing, renewing, and assessing curriculum at the course and program level-
- share and promote effective strategies and approaches in teaching, learning and assessment throughout the College-
- serve as an Indigenization resource for programs at all phases of the review process to better support the departments and quality assurance processes at the College-
- develop resources, lead workshops, and facilitate conversations for and with faculty related to Indigenization and decolonization of the curriculumRequired Qualifications:
- minimum of a master's degree with a preference for a specialization in Indigenous Education or a related field-
- three or more years of working in an Indigenous-focused higher education setting-
- three or more years of teaching or working directly with Indigenous pedagogies- Skills:
- strong interpersonal skills acknowledging and showing respect for the opinions and expertise of others
- excellent facilitation techniques including the ability to identify and respond appropriately to the cues of others
- ability to work collaboratively with diverse academic and administrative staff
- excellent intercultural communications skills
- superior organizational and time management skills
- effective planning skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while setting and maintaining priorities
- excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualification and Skills- knowledge and/or experience working among diverse Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island-
