**JOB SUMMARY**
Under the supervision of the Manager, Inuit Qaujisarvingat, the Data Analyst will support implementation of the National Inuit Strategy on Research (NISR) by improving Inuit access, ownership and control over data and information. The Data Analyst will ensure ITK’s advocacy work is informed by current and accurate data and information. The employee will be responsible for data collection, data analysis, data management, production of reports, formulation of recommendations based on data-gathering, organizing workshops and training opportunities, committee work, consultations with regional Inuit organizations, and other related tasks.
**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**
PLANNING AND COORDINATION
- Prepare work plans for specific areas of responsibility assigned by the Manager;
- Conduct and coordinate data gathering and analysis activities;
- Coordinate with regions, within ITK, and federal departments to guide data collection, storage, and access activities at the national level;
- Lead the development and implementation of data sharing agreements;
- Manage projects to ensure completion of all activities as identified in the work plan.
DATA & INFORMATION
- Keep an up-to-date inventory of ITK research data collection activities;
- Act as a hub for ITK research data collection, analysis, and interpretation;
- Provide data support to ITK staff by compiling and synthesizing data for research needs and policy development;
- Document methodologies used to collect data and assess data quality;
- Work with federal departments and other organizations on Inuit data-related projects to ensure that the principles of Inuit self-determination in data activities are respected and that data products are culturally appropriate and relevant; and
- Review and analyse Inuit-specific data-based reports produced by ITK, partners, federal departments, academic institutions and others.
POLICY SUPPORT
- Advocate for the consistent production, protection and sharing of Inuit-specific and Inuit relevant indicators and data;
- Implement guidelines on data accessibility, ownership and control; and
- Provide sound data and data analysis to support and inform the development of ITK policy initiatives.
COMMUNICATION
- Develop plain language communications materials related to data for a variety of audiences;
- Produce technical materials, briefings, synthesis reports, etc. related to data; and
- Work to develop partnerships with those who support the principles of Inuit self-determination in data to ensure that Inuit priorities and concerns are articulated and addressed.
ADMINISTRATIVE
- Prepare and follow project budgets;
- Compile regular reports of project activities;
- Draft, edit and produce reports, studies, position papers, policy statements and other documents; and
- Follow and maintain data and information policies, research records and systems.
REPRESENTATION AND RELATIONSHIPS
- Represent ITK in meetings and conferences or on committees and working groups as assigned. This will include task forces or working groups struck from time to time;
- Work in partnership with Inuit regional organizations to support their data needs; and
- Must be able to work as a team member and as a mentor to other staff.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Strong quantitative, research and data analysis skills;
- Experience with planning, preparing and disseminating data-based reports, briefings and other products;
- Ability to think critically, including problem solving, research evaluation and analysis;
- Ability to work independently and in a group setting with diverse partners and stakeholders;
- Excellent cross-cultural skills and the ability to deal with diverse opinions;
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills (primarily in English; Inuktut and/or French an asset), including the ability to communicate quantitative information through technical and plain-language materials;
