Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Annual Giving, the **Philanthropy Officer, Annual & Mid-Level Giving** is part of the Philanthropy team responsible for an integrated fundraising model. As a key driver in the Alberta Cancer Foundation’s strategic plan, the Philanthropy team is committed to innovative fundraising, a diverse donor base, and excellence in all giving streams. The Annual Giving program is an important source of reliable undesignated income for the Foundation with funds raised through direct mail, tele-fundraising, online giving, face to face fundraising, and tribute or commemorative giving.
The **Philanthropy Officer, Annual**& Mid-Level Giving** will be responsible for coordinating and executing the day-to-day operations of the direct response program (mail and online) as well as building and executing on the mid-level program for the Foundation. The officer will hold an active donor portfolio with the goal of deepening those donors’ relationship with the Foundation.
**Key Tasks & Responsibilities**:
**Annual Giving Execution**
- Assist with management and execution of the annual giving program with a focus on direct mail and online giving.
- Coordinate with external agencies and internal resources in the delivery of direct response programs by relaying strategic directions, approving copy and creative, and coordinating required donor data.
- Work with agencies to assist in creating compelling and effective fundraising direct mail and online campaigns.
- Analyze appeal performance and campaign effectiveness against set benchmarks and performance metrics.
- Assist and guide other members of the Foundation on direct response methods and protocols.
- Produce timely reports showing performance against targets and KPIs.
**Mid-Level Donor Relations Management**
- Build and implement a mid-level giving program to enhance giving from donors capable and inclined to give $1000-$9,999 annually.
- Develop enhanced strategies for cultivation and solicitation, utilizing direct response tactics combined with high-touch, relationship-based activities as identified.
- Set goals, generate revenue, and evaluate success for the Foundation through effective donor relations management of this segment of donors.
- Identify and manage a portfolio of prospects and donors showing linkage, interest, and ability demonstrated through frequency, responsiveness and regularity of giving that are outside a major gift portfolio but show potential for increased cultivation.
- Deliver exemplary acknowledgement and donor engagement of mid-level donors to enhance donor satisfaction and retention.
**Record Keeping & Administration**
- Maintain meticulous notes and accurate records for donor actions, relationships, and any relevant information
- Assist in seeking opportunities for trends and best practices and look for opportunities to grow unrestricted revenue through existing and new revenue streams.
- Work with other members of the Philanthropy team as needed to enhance donor support to the organization.
- Remain knowledgeable about the impact of Alberta Cancer Foundation has and key messages in general and for specific audiences.
**Required Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary degree in relevant discipline, including Business, Marketing, Communications, and/or combination of education, experience and training.
- 5+ years of work experience in a non-profit organization, preferably focused in healthcare philanthropy. Please note that a different combination of education and work experience may be considered
- Experience working on in cross channel integrated direct response campaigns
- Experience working with mid-level donors
- Customer service experience, with demonstrated sensitivity to varied needs of customers is an asset
- Ability to work independently
- Experience in Raiser’s Edge (RE7), or Salesforce and an understanding of CRA tax regulations for non-profit organizations
- Have exceptional time management skills and strong attention to detail
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Driver’s License & access to personal vehicle.
