- Reporting to the Director, Centre for Teaching and Learning Innovation, this position works with mínimal supervision and provides leadership and responsive development of digital content, documentation, problem solving, investigation of issues and instructor support of all learning technologies. The Learning Technology Support Specialist acts as an expert resource on instructor issues, incidents and requests involving learning technologies for North Island College particularly focused on tools, features and functions.
- This valued position works collaboratively with IT’s Educational Technology Analysts, the Centre’s Teaching and Learning Specialists and director roles to support instructors with evidence-informed pedagogical, curriculum, and course design components. It requires ongoing learning and updating of knowledge and skills as the digital learning environment is changing every couple of months, along with daily and weekly changes to tools, features, and functionality of all learning technology platforms.

**Duties & Responsibilities**
- 1. Independently troubleshoot, explore and resolve Service Desk tickets from instructors with requests for learning technologies support, resolving incidents, problems and issues, along with providing training and guidance. When unable to resolve on own, know when and who to reach out to for additional support.
- 2. As part of supporting instructors, customize information to support use of learning technology tools. This could include such things as digital resources and materials (e.g., screencast videos, handouts, web site pages and materials) for them to more easily access support, to help explain a solution and aid in being proactive about future issues. This could also involve 1:1 consultations, working with small groups, delivering support through web-based conferencing software, or creating support-focused training materials within the learning management system.
- 3. Provide timely and tailored responses to support users, some of whom have limited experience with learning management systems and associated technologies. Other users will have highly developed technology competencies. The position will require the individual to have the skills to provide user support to this wide range of users and pivot as required.
- 4. Organize and deliver training and technology orientations and learning sessions for instructors including the appropriate tools and functions of the digital learning platforms and systems.
- 5. Build passive resources, web content, video and other documentation to post publicly and internally to support instructors in a self-serve format such as multiple formatted digital learning materials in support of instructor and programming needs (e.g., HTML, PDF, audio, video, streaming media, images etc.) and for being proactive and working in sustainable ways.
- 6. Create documentation and manuals related to the educational technology for use by IT and CTLI to help build internal knowledge and share with future hires.
- 7. Liaise, share and provide updates to all Client Support and Educational Technology Analysts as required to ensure optimal supports for instructors and students are consistent and current.
- 8. Quickly switch tasks and focus in a high pressure, fast-paced environment often with a busy workload and be frequently called upon to resolve or refer issues with immediate requirements or tight deadlines.
- 9. Support, manage and routinely work in NIC’s learning management system and assist with integrations and other service providers. Engage to test, monitor, resolve or fix any course issue while keeping abreast of platform updates, fixes, and patches along with new features and functions.
