Science World is a mission-based BC-based charitable organization that supports the development of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Design and Math) literacy across British Columbia. Our mission is **_to ignite wonder and empower dreams through science and nature_** and our purpose is **_Science for All. _**An iconic, 100,000 square foot facility located on Vancouver’s False Creek waterfront and at the pinnacle of the re-development of the False Creek Flats with the new St. Paul’s Hospital construction, Science World has been a part of the fabric of Vancouver for over 35 years.

Our new 5-year strategy seeks to revitalize Science World with a substantial, $80M, 5-year capital plan to replace critical infrastructure and transform the visitor experience as well as develop new content across all our channels under the themes of _Regeneration, Human Health and Inclusion. _We are striving to ensure people throughout British Columbia, especially under-represented communities, have access to high quality, informal STEAM learning. Through our onsite, online and outreach programs, Science World seeks to spark that curiosity and wonder in STEAM and support the development of talent across all communities in the province.

**Position Description**

The Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Events Management provides overall direction and leadership in the Sales and Marketing management of Science World. This role will have responsibility for sales and marketing, communications, membership and attendance, brand and creative management, public relations, pricing strategy, social media, merchandising and event and facility sales.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Vice President actively contributes to the organization’s operational and long-term strategic goals, including the development of Science World’s Sales and Marketing strategy across all channels in support of the organization’s mission. This executive should have strong background in developing and implementing successful target segment marketing, leveraging data to achieve sales and marketing targets, and a relentless focus on optimizing revenue and membership growth through strong targeted and monitored value propositions. Experience marketing and selling unique properties would be a strong asset. With the significant revitalization of Science World there is the opportunity to heighten brand awareness, drive attendance and better utilize the facility to generate revenue in support of the mission. This position will also have responsibility for our retail store both onsite and online with an opportunity to drive merchandising of unique products and services that underlay our Mission and Purpose, augment our exhibits and programming and drive revenue for the organization. The Vice President will also work closely with the Vice President, Finance to support the Board’s ad hoc Strategic Revenue committee to optimize and drive new revenue sources for Science World.

**Responsibilities**

**Strategy, Vision, and Leadership**
- Contributes to the development of Science World’s strategic goals and objectives as well as the overall management of the organization
- Identifies objectives, sales and marketing strategies and action plans to improve short-term, long-term revenue and mission objectives, balancing the two objectives in crafting sales and marketing strategies that drive revenue
- Develops the overall strategy for Marketing and Sales in line with **_Science for All, _**Science World’s new 5-year strategic plan with responsibility for driving revenue goals
- Establishes short and long-term goals, objectives, policies, best practices, and operating procedures for Sales, Marketing & Events Management Team that are aligned with the strategic plan
- Ensures consistent and profitable growth in sales revenues through pro-active planning, target segment strategies
- Ensures optimization of revenue across the organization including attendance, membership, event and facility sales, online and onsite sales and partnership opportunities
