Core laboratory offerings include customized special chemistry, special histology and molecular diagnostic services. MSS is looking for an experienced laboratory professional who is aligned with our purpose to join the MSS team as the Laboratory Coordinator.

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the Laboratory Coordinator is responsible for supporting the safe and efficient operations of the Mount Sinai Services (MSS Laboratory). The Laboratory Coordinator actively support the goals and objectives of MSS by ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of clinical research services. With a client centered focus, the Laboratory Coordinator takes a lead role in monitoring MSS operations to capitalize on opportunities to exceed the expectations of internal and external clients. The Laboratory Coordinator, serves as project management advisor to the broader MSS Laboratory team through continuous improvement, the promotion of teamwork, and knowledge sharing.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
**Project Coordination**
- Work collaboratively with MSS Laboratory Leadership and Client Service Team to facilitate the communication, management and implementation of projects for new and existing industry and academic clients
- Act as the main liaison between the Client Service team and the Business and Technical teams
- Monitor work and prioritize workload, responding effectively to shifting client requirements
- Write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Statements of Work (SOW) for new projects and review and amend existing SOPs/SOWs as needed
- Contact suppliers to determine costs for requested reagents/supplies for all new and existing projects
- Ensure smooth integration of new projects into existing workflow and schedules
- Prepare and review quotes/invoices/billing processes/financial reviews as requested by management and communicate with the Client Service Team (Business Development Team) as required
- Responsible for oversight of projects including clinic setup, Laboratory Information System (LIS) codes, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Work closely with the Client Service Team to ensure communication of appropriate and expected project turn-around-times (TATs)
- Maintain working knowledge of all projects and monitor and coordinate workflow to ensure that the expected TATs are met
- Identify technical obstacles which may affect the ability of MSS to meet expected TATs and work with the Laboratory Manager and Senior Laboratory Technologists to provide solutions

**Quality Improvement & Knowledge Sharing**
- Actively participate in continuous learning through the review of scientific materials and the participation in webinars, in-house education sessions and attendance at seminars and lectures
- Keep abreast of new and updated hospital, departmental and legislative processes, policies, and procedures, ensuring that this information is shared with team members
- Establish processes and procedures, assist with method/equipment evaluation, test optimization and validation as required
- Integrate information management tools such as project huddles, communication boards, and information sessions for all team members to ensure that workflow is supported
- Participate and/or lead departmental meetings, events, and activities

**Resource Efficiency**
- Work with Laboratory Manager to monitor project efficiency, ensuring TATs are met
- Prepare and review quotes/invoices/billing processes/financial reviews as required; liaising with the Client Service Team as appropriate
- Ensure appropriate utilization of supplies with a commitment to reducing costs and waste
- Work with Laboratory Manager to ensure scheduling efficiencies

**Safety/Regulatory/Accreditation Compliance**
- Takes an active role in supporting the creation of a culture of safety, risk mitigation, quality, and service
- Actively participates in Occupational Health, Wellness and Safety programs by undergoing safety training/education
- Ensures that all required equipment and protective devices are used in the prescribed manner
- Responsible for conveying policies and procedures to team members
- Maintain and promote effective professional regulatory criteria by accreditation agencies such as IQMH and CAP, as well as other regulatory agencies such as Health Canada and FDA f
