Our afterschool drop-in centers are designed to create a space where all youth ages 12-18 are welcome. A space where you can bring your passions and skills and invest in youth who need to know there are adults who care.

Relationship Builder Volunteer:
**Responsibilities**:

- Engage with students in various activities as well as in intentional conversations.
- Provide a safe, supportive adult for students to talk to, about daily life and current problems.
- Provide a warm, compassionate, non-judgmental, accepting adult presence.
- Be intentional to get to know students and what they are going through.
- Be able to follow up with past conversations in order to help students feel heard and seen.
- Communicate with YU staff about some of the supports needed for students.
- Arrive half an hour before the program starts to help set up the space.
- Stay for half an hour after the program to clean up and debrief with the rest of the leadership team.

Time Commitment:

- Drop-ins run from 3:30-6 pm every day after school across the city. We would love you to be at as many as you are comfortable with, or even just one day a week makes a huge impact
- 1 hour, 3x per year for support/check-ins with the team lead.
- 2 hours, 2x per year for training/appreciation.

As a relationally focused program, you and your presence matter. Youth are looking for a role model and leader like you. So, if you want to take on a volunteer role with us, commitment is important. Relationships are built on stability.
