**Title**: Community Education Coordinator

**Status**: Full time (35 hours per week) - permanent status

**Reports to: Manager, Community Engagement & Training**

**Supervises**: N/A

**Position Summary**:
The Community Education Coordinator develops and delivers programs using web-based & standard learning modalities that increase awareness of dementia, and facilitates dementia-specific training that addresses the needs of diverse target populations in the community.

**Responsibilities**:

- Identifies and develops educational programs in Durham Region related to Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias
- Delivers care partner and public education using technology, as well as traditional modes of delivery
- Assists in the coordination, design, delivery and evaluation of community education and awareness events to a broad variety of target groups, including persons living with dementia, family and professional caregivers, general public, students, volunteers, ASDR staff and community partners using a wide array of delivery methods including, but not limited to, presentations, forums, consultations, dementia simulations, and web-based e-learning
- Assists clients with technology-based questions, for virtual platforms and accessibility relevant to ASDRs online education, support and social activities
- Responsible for the reporting and analysis of all educational statistical data to ensure targets are being met for funding requirements
- Evaluate the strengths of educational programs and identify areas for improvement
- Develop and maintain knowledge of educational & awareness activities happening in other AS provincial chapters
- Act as a resource on education-related networks and committees relevant to the work of the

ASDR Public Education program as required
- Assist with the preparation of an annual education and outreach plan for the Society
- In consultation with the Director, Programs & Services, Manager, Community Engagement &
Training and other department staff, develop and implement new initiatives to support the strategic direction of ASDR
- Assists with the planning and execution of dementia friendly community initiatives and training programs
- Assist with administration and delivery of U-First and GPA training to care partners, community partners, health care professionals, as required.
- Ensure compliance and adherence all human resource and Public Education & Awareness program policies and protocols of ASDR

**Relationships**
- Reporting to the Manager, Community Engagement & Training, the Community Education

Coordinator works as part of a multi-member team and has close working relationships withCommunications, Program staff and Administration. The Community Education Coordinator also maintains working relationships with professional colleagues, community agencies, educational institutions, residential homes and other organizations and groups working with people living with dementia in Durham Region.
**Other Duties**
- Perform other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**
- Post secondary degree/diploma in health, community development, adult education or social sciences

**Experience**
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the delivery of education & training to adults, including virtually
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with persons living with dementia and their care partners
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience working in a long-term care or retirement home setting, preferred

**Other Knowledge, Skills, Abilities or Certifications**
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in health, social work, gerontology, adult education or social services
- Demonstrated experience in the delivery of educational programming via technology (eg.

Webinars)
- Demonstrated use of technology in program planning and delivery
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias
- Experience facilitating learning in groups
- Ability to work cooperatively with volunteers and staff
- Superior communication skills, verbal, written and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational & time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to work evenings or weekends as required
- Computer literacy with proficiency in Windows environment; strong working knowledge of

Microsoft Office and other software that will allow the delivery of web-based learning
- Current Ontario “G” driver’s license and daily access to an insured vehicle

**Physical Demands**
- No special physical demands are required beyond the performance of general office duties.

**Travel**
- Travel within Durham Region will be required, adhering to Public Health guidelines.
