The **Trade, Investment and Food Safety Division** expands and diversifies Alberta’s food and bio-product manufacturing sector in local and global markets while also providing effective food safety assurance systems.

The **Export and Investment Branch** focuses on attracting investment to Alberta’s agri-processing sectors and expanding export opportunities for Alberta’s businesses. The Branch also designs and delivers Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership funding programs related to growth and value-added development and provides performance measurement and program evaluation services for the Division.

The **Export Development and Industry Grants** Section consists of three units: Export Development Unit, Investment Programs Unit, and Industry Programs Unit.

The **Export Development Unit** delivers specialized service to support Alberta’s agriculture and agri-food sector to prepare for and enter new markets and expand sales in current markets. These services include market research, assistance in navigating market entry, business-to-business introductions, and opportunities to profile Alberta’s agriculture and value-added agriculture industry. The Unit consists of six Senior Trade Development Officers responsible for priority export markets, and two International Initiatives Officers. The Unit works closely with our eight agriculture-dedicated staff in the Alberta International Offices in Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, Singapore, New Delhi, Mexico City, Minneapolis, and Düsseldorf.

**Salary**: $3,147.32 to $4,235.37 bi-weekly. ($82,145 - $110,543/year)

**Role**:
Reporting to the Export Development and Industry Grants Director, the **Export Development Manager** leads the development and execution of programs and services designed to advance export growth in key international markets.

The Manager is also responsible for the administration of the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership Market Development and Trade Program, coordination with the agriculture-dedicated staff in Alberta International Offices for the implementation of export development programs, and develop and implement Ministerial and Executive level international missions.

**Primary duties include**:
1. Lead the development and execution of export development programs and services in key international markets.
- Provide strategic direction to the Export Development team and agriculture dedicated staff in Alberta International Offices to successfully plan and deliver initiatives with a focus on export readiness, export development and market advocacy.
- Work with other branch members to develop and implement Ministerial level initiatives and international missions to achieve the department's trade, investment and advocacy goals.
- Provide strategic and day-to-day coaching, mentorship, and direction, including performance management and identification of developmental opportunities.

2. Manage the administration of the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership Market Development and Trade Program.
- Manage monthly and quarterly budget processes including review and forecasts, as well as recommendations on in-the-year adjustments to drive for results.
- Design and implement performance management systems to evaluate the effectiveness of the program and ensure optimal return on investment.

3. Collaborate with cross-ministry and intergovernmental stakeholders and industry partners to develop programs and strategies to advance export growth.
- Establish and engage with a network of government and industry contacts to advocate for Alberta's agriculture interests.
- Represent Alberta/the department on cross-ministerial and pan-Canadian working groups and committees regarding the development and delivery of programs designed to advance economic growth through exports and industry diversification.
- Liaise with Executive Council’s Intergovernmental Relations team to coordinate operations of the agriculture-dedicated staff in the Alberta International Offices.

4. Provide strategic advice and recommendations to the Director and actively engage with other branch/section leaders to foster collaboration.
- Align unit activities with department priorities and business planning, as well as overarching Government of Alberta’s strategies and business planning affecting international trade or economic development.
- Contribute to emerging section priorities and strategy development on a multitude of issues related to trade, investment, and government relations.
- Report quarterly and annual results to the department/branch score card and annual report.
