**JOB SUMMARY**

In consultation with the Recreation Director, the Recreation Worker is responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating a therapeutic recreation program for the residents of Luther Home. The Recreation Worker is responsible to ensure the delivery of meaningful recreational and leisure programs in accordance with assessment and individual residents needs. Maintain a high standard of program delivery in a manner consistent to the policies, procedures, philosophy and objectives of Luther Home. To promote a safe environment for Residents, Families, Visitors, Volunteers and Staff.

**QUALIFICATIONS**

1. Completion of Certificate/Diploma/Degree Program in Recreation Field.

2. Excellent written/verbal communication skills and listening skills.

3. Computer knowledge.

4. Ability to foster good public relations.

5. Ability to foster an environment which is conducive to the wellbeing of residents and staff.

6. Problem solving including assessing the problem, using good judgement and creating a solution to the problem.

7. Ability to accept supervision, guidance from the Director of Recreation.

8. Ability to direct and support others.

9. Good Leadership, Individual leadership, Reliability and Productive.

10. Good physical and mental health.

11. Able to manage time effectively.

12. Experience working with elderly or infirmed persons.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**

This includes the responsibility and authority to:
1. Respects, promotes and complies with the Resident Bill of Rights and Responsibilities.

2. Complete initial and ongoing assessment of each resident utilizing the facility assessment tools.

3. Maintain all related records.

4. Comply with the policies and procedures of Luther Home.

5. Comply with Long term Care Standards and regulations.

6. Work cooperatively with other team members, services and volunteers.

7. Maintain effective communication lines at all times with the Director of Recreation.

8. Function in a manner conducive to the well being of staff and residents.

9. Consistently adheres to safe workplace requirements.

10. Invite and porter Resident to daily programs.

11. Prepare equipment and materials necessary for the success of the program.

12. Ensure that all equipment and materials in the program are well maintained and properly used.

13. Maintain areas of programming by cleaning up appropriately after each program.

14. Complete initial and ongoing assessment and charting of each Resident Utilizing the facility assessment tools.

15. Provide a variety of meaningful therapeutic recreation programs for the residents of Luther Home.

16. Decorate the facility in keeping with seasons and special events

17. Ensure that Recreation storage areas are clean and tidy.

18. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Recreation.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $20.09-$23.75 per hour

Expected hours: 17.82 per week
