We are seeking a highly motivated team player to fill the role of Manager - Communications and Community Engagement. This position is responsible for developing and growing the Library’s brand, and creating excitement and awareness around Brantford Public Library’s role and services. Additionally, the position is responsible for promoting, marketing, and communicating the Library’s mission, vision, priorities and services.

Brantford Public Library serves a population of approximately 100,000 residents in two locations. Brantford is a community that is rich in natural and cultural heritage, ideally situated within a convenient driving distance to several major Ontario cities. The Library’s strategic priorities are focused on creating positive, individualized customer experiences; increasing the community’s engagement with the Library; and expanding library services and resources to meet current and future community needs.

**Salary Range**:$47.06 to $55.37 per hour

**Classification**:Exempt, Full-Time, Permanent

**Hours of Work**: Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or equivalent
- Minimum of four years’ professional experience relevant to the position in a public sector organization, including community development and managing volunteers
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a leadership role, preferably as a manager in a unionized environment
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent working knowledge of digital marketing platforms, tools, and techniques, such as Google Ads and Search Engine Optimization
- Experience in managing and maintaining brand standards
- Demonstrated and ongoing familiarity with current technology required
- Valid G-class License and access to a vehicle

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Leadership**
- Provides leadership and advocacy for marketing, promotions and communications within the Library
- Develops, implements, and evaluates all marketing, promotions, branding, and communication strategies, ensuring system-wide coordination
- Develops and nurtures relationships and partnerships within the community to promote and develop library services
- Identifies opportunities and trends, and makes recommendations for the provision of exemplary library services
- Actively promotes the inclusion of emerging technologies in the delivery of service
- Identifies and manages major projects

**Management**
- Develops and directs innovative and cost-effective marketing strategies to facilitate access to and promote library services, collections, programs and facilities
- Designs and implements an integrated communications strategy for Brantford Public Library
- Oversees the content, development, production, distribution and evaluation of all internal and external publications and marketing and communication tools, including the Library’s website, social media platforms, Intranet and digital and print advertising, and marketing collateral
- Develops and enhances the profile of the Library through the coordination of signage, and traditional print/graphic and electronic promotional tools
- Develops and sustains effective media relations, and responds to media requests
- Prepares backgrounders, speeches, presentations, and key messages for the CEO/Chief Librarian, Library Board and senior leadership team
- Organizes and manages special events that promote the Library
- Actively seeks opportunities and develops relationships with designated community groups, community partners, and other libraries, to promote public and partner understanding of the Library and its services
- Directs and supports community engagement initiatives
- Supports the development of attractive displays, community information boards, and related promotional activities inside and outside the Library buildings
- Manages development and implementation of a system-wide library volunteer program and coordinated library student placement opportunities
- Oversees the design, administration, and analysis of community surveys and market research to inform service development and strategic planning
- Oversees collection of statistics for marketing, communications and provincial reporting
- Monitors and interprets operational, demographic and other trends, including those from other organizations, and adapts to relevant local needs
- Oversees room bookings
- Manages customer feedback and complaints
- Develops, promotes and administers fund development programs and capital campaigns, as required
- Delivers presentations and represents the Library at public meetings and in the community as required
