**About the Position**:We are seeking a Communications Advisor to join our dynamic team. This role involves executing communication functions that align with our corporate goals and objectives, as well as planning and implementing strategies for stakeholder engagement. The Communications Advisor will play a key role in planning, executing, and measuring communications activities, as well as providing communications support that highlights BCHU services and programs to stakeholders. Additionally, the advisor will assist with the media relations function for the organization, including preparing media releases and responses. This position requires outstanding organizational skills and keen attention to detail.

**Qualifications and Competencies**:

- Must possess secondary education in communications, marketing, public relations, or journalism.
- A minimum of five years of work experience in a communications or public relations environment, including demonstrated experience with social media, strategy development, marketing, and communications consultation experience.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in media relations experience with demonstrated skill in writing press releases and media responses.
- Must be a self-starter, demonstrate initiative and ability to work independently and take appropriate action based on analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience building comprehensive internal and external communication plans and strategies that reach a specified target audience.
- Experience writing compelling website content and an understanding of website organization and best practices
- Past, proven experience/success in creating engaging and impactful social media content.
- Proven ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
- Highly skilled in both written and verbal communication.
- Exceptional writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and the strategic and creative use of social media platforms.
- Previous content management system and website maintenance experience is considered an asset.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- A valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable vehicle access.
- Required to have full COVID-19 immunization and are able to provide evidence of status.

Terms and conditions of employment in accordance with the ONA Allied Collective Agreement. Hourly wage range: $32.86/hour - $39.64/hour, 70 hours in a two-week period. OMERS pension and a comprehensive Health and Dental benefits package.
