**Specialist, Events & Community Engagement**

**About the Position**

Reporting to the Director, Fundraising & Resource Development, the Specialist, Events and Community Engagement leads Brant County SPCA events with a focus on creating strong and lasting relationships with sponsors, event participants and donors. The SECE will be responsible for revenue generation, logistics and creation of promotional materials for each event. This includes social media marketing, e-blasts, securing sponsorships, event participants and reporting out on impact of donors, support post-event.

The SECE will also support SPCA’s general marketing communications by helping to update the website and lead all social media marketing for the SPCA, in collaboration with the Director, F&RD. They will support donor relations and stewardship through thank you calls, shelter tours and donor visits.

In addition, this role will be responsible for tracking progress of each event’s success in Raiser’s Edge NXT including creating and pulling events-related reports to help team identify trends, areas of opportunity.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Enhancing the Brant County SPCA’s brand by being active and visible in the community and working alongside other public and private organizations

Lead stewardship for all events-related sponsors, donors and third-party event organizers
- Develop marketing and promotional material for all Brant County SPCA Special Events
- Secure cash and in-kind sponsorships to help events reach their revenue goals
- Responsible for the maintenance, execution and consistent use of the Events Module in Raiser’s Edge

Marketing & Communications
- Lead social media marketing, developing engagement strategies and posting to all SPCA channels to strengthen the SPCA’s brand
- Promote fundraising events, appeals, recognize supporters and promote animals available for adoption
- Maintain and promote animals available for adoption to SCPA website and social channels

Donor Relations
- Responsible for the enhancement of the Brant County SPCA’s image by being active and visible in the community by working alongside other public and private organizations
- Use Raiser’s Edge for moves management inputting upcoming donor actions, activities and staff tasks in Raiser’s Edge as required

**Working Conditions**
- This position involves physical activity such as lifting up to 20lbs or more.
- Work evenings, weekends and overtime hours to accommodate activities such as events and committee meetings etc.
- Work primarily occurs in an office setting and third party locations in Brantford 3-4 days a week.
- Indoor and outdoor activities in all weather conditions
- This position requires sitting for extended periods

**Experience & Qualifications**
- Experience in a fundraising, marketing or communications role.
- Exceptional communication skills and experience copy-writing for direct marketing and digital communications (appeals, e-blasts, e-newsletters, website and social posts)
- Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as events and campaign require
- Valid Ontario driver’s license with access to a vehicle required
- Experience working and/or volunteering with non-profits is an asset.
- Education in fundraising, marketing, communications or non-profit management is an asset.
- Familiarity with CRM databases such as Raiser’s Edge NXT is an asset
- Graphic design experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop and Illustrator) and Canva is an asset
- Comfortable handling and being around companion animals and some general knowledge of animal care and responsible pet ownership would be an asset
