**What you can expect**:
As soon as you start your new job, you'll be auditing against Forest Management (FM) and Chain of Custody (COC) standards for Forest Stewardship Council(FSC ), Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), and Program for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC—COC only) while helping develop and improve these services. After a few months, you'll be supporting the success and growth of our certification services in Canada. Within a year you’ll be working with other teams and divisions in our dynamic international organization while growing your skills as a sustainability professional.

**Projects you will work on**:

- Client management and auditing services to a subset of forestry and forest product clients in the US/Canada regions.
- Acting as a primary point of contact to support new and existing clients with their sustainability certifications in US/Canada.
- All aspects of forestry certification assessments and audits including scheduling, project management, customer service, technical guidance, consultant management and quality control.
- Acting as auditor/lead auditor while maintaining a high level of professionalism and quality of service.
- Business development, sales and marketing of different Preferred by Natures services in Canada.

- Within one month, you will:_
- Meet the team and learn about our systems, tools and available resources
- Begin your training in managing supply chain and forest management to understand key elements in the field
- Within three months, you will:_
- Begin management of a portfolio of certified clients
- Travel to client facilities to assist in conducting on-site sustainability audits
- Identify local opportunities for increasing our portfolio with new clients
- Receive training that gives you unique insight into sustainability trends and other certifications such as Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP), Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) or Carbon Footprint Management (CFM).
- Within one year, you will:_
- Attain lead auditor qualification for relevant sustainability certifications such as SBP, SFI and/or CFM.
- Oversee consultants who provide certification and verification services for FSC,and other services to our clients in Canada
- In coordination with the region's team, organize and facilitate training courses for clients, stakeholders, and auditors in Canada
- Map all potential new opportunities for Preferred by Nature in the region (clients, projects, etc.)
- Continue to develop your sustainability skills by working with new programs and departments at Preferred by Nature and explore further opportunities for growth in your second year

**Important that you**:

- Have a bachelor’s degree in forestry, Natural Resource Management, Forest Ecology or other related fields
- Have at least 3 years of experience in Forestry, Forest Ecology or other areas related to responsible forestry such as sociology, environmental economics or other environmental studies
- Are bilingual in English and French
- Have strong computer skills (word-processing, databases, spreadsheets) and presentation skills
- Have strong organizational, multi-tasking and attention to detail skills
- Take initiative and have self-motivation and dependability
- Are willing to travel within and out of the country for periods of up to one week at a time

**Would also be great, but not necessary, if you**:

- Have a master’s degree in forestry or other fields related to responsible forestry (Sociology, Environmental economics or other environmental studies, etc.)
- Have environmental management system auditor training experience
- Completed auditing training in FSC FM, FSC CoC and or SFI
- Have silviculture and harvesting experience
- Have experience, working knowledge of forest products, agriculture or sustainable biomass projects
- Have sales/marketing experience
