About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Forest Firefighter Specialist to join our team at the BC Public Service Agency. As a key member of our wildfire prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery team, you will play a vital role in keeping our communities safe and resilient.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work as part of a crew on the fireline and in day-to-day fieldwork around their communities, ensuring incidents are responded to safely and effectively.
  • To participate in wildfire prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery efforts across the province, collaborating with professionals in various fields.
  • To maintain personal weights standards as required for crew type and complete pre-employment fitness standard.

Requirements

  • A valid Basic First Aid (OFA Level 1) certificate with Transportation endorsement prior to attending New Recruit Bootcamp.
  • A successfully completed New Recruit Boot Camp training standard and related 'S-courses.'
  • A Class 5 driver's license as required for crew type.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous firefighting experience, including volunteer roles.
  • Previous forestry or resource-based work experience.
  • Outdoor experience such as hunting/trapping, stewardship roles, or fire keeping/fire watching.
  • Post-secondary forestry or resource management education (in progress or completed).
  • Skill or aptitude related to trades.
