Portfolio Manager - Wealth Technology

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

As a Portfolio Manager, you will work with the Project Delivery Office of Wealth Management Technology & Solutions, a part of Royal Bank’s Technology and Operations division. Our group leads and delivers projects in Canada for the RBC Wealth Management line of business and for the operations teams that support that line of business. RBC Wealth Management is the largest full-service wealth manager in Canada and 5th largest wealth manager in the world, by client assets.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
- Play a key strategic role by acting as steward and the primary gatekeeper and senior advisor for all project investment decisions/expenditures in the assigned portfolio and help ensure projects in Wealth Management align to business objectives and strategy
- Report on realized benefits against forecasted benefits for all projects in each assigned business area
- Provide business leaders guidance and assistance on early stage preparation of business ideas, project estimates and preparatory deliverables through to business case, in the early stages of the business planning cycle
- Ensure business cases have clearly articulated and measurable goals for the delivery teams to act on
- Aggregate demand and capacity usage for the approved initiatives across the business functions, IT and project management.
- Accountable to lead and implement portfolio governance for the assigned business portfolio, working with resource managers across the organization, make recommendations on the scheduling of all projects prior to business case approval.
- Ensure all in-flight projects are properly and consistently reported on in a timely manner.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

**Must have**:

- Deep understanding of Project Management, Financial Planning, Budgeting and Forecasts
- 5+ years progressive experience in managing functions in a large corporate setting including 3 years of exposure to senior leadership; Financial Services strongly preferred, Wealth Management an asset
- Proven success in the management of stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Excellent prioritization and co-ordination skills, combined with the ability to work to multiple deadlines under pressure
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to communicate a wide variety of complex information in both oral and written format

**Nice-to-have**:

- Business degree strongly preferred
- Hold a current project management certification or equivalent work experience
