**POSITION OVERVIEW**:
This is event work involving leadership responsibility for planning, scheduling, implementing, and leading a variety of social, cultural, and general interest activities as assigned by a superior. An incumbent provides guidance to volunteers on their program duties and is responsible for safe and proper use of equipment and facilities. Duties are performed within established guidelines, but some independent action and initiative is exercised in leading and instructing assigned activities. Work performance is evaluated by a superior in terms of leadership effectiveness and attainment of desired results.

**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**:
High school graduation supplemented with post-secondary education preferable in Municipal recreation work at the diploma level and some supervisory and/or leadership experience.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES**:
Working knowledge of organized community parks, recreation and culture principles and practices including safe and proper use of equipment and facilities and public spaces.

Working knowledge of program content of those social, cultural, and general interest recreational activities for which leadership skills are required and to which incumbent is assigned.

Ability to plan, schedule, implement and lead assigned cultural engagements and provide guidance and assistance to volunteers regarding instructional duties and safe and proper use of equipment and facilities and public spaces.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, volunteers and program participants.

Skills in selected recreational activities.

**LICENSES & CERTIFICATES**:
Class 5 Driver’s License valid in the Province of British Columbia

St. John's First Aid Certificate or equivalent plus CPR Level “A” Certificate.

Criminal Record Search must be completed.

**HOURS OF WORK**:
Hours of work are governed by Schedule “B” (C, J) - based on an eight (8) hour day, forty (40) hour week, may be required to work more than five (5) consecutive shifts in a week or more than forty (40) hours in a week without overtime rates being paid.

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**:
This position will be primarily responsible for special events which are developed in-house or in partnership with community non-profit organizations.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Ability to work well under pressure and deal with stressful situations with professionalism.
- Excellent communications and time management skills and detail oriented
- Driver training for towing and backing a trailer will be an asset.
