The Business Analyst partners with IT and business lines to assess, research, analyze and document business and systems needs in order to resolve business systems issues by recommending business solutions that meet sponsor/stakeholder needs. In this role you will elicit, analyze, document and communicate needs, system features, and detailed requirements; participate in the development and implementation of improved BA processes and tools; participate in all phases of the SDLC; engage Solutions Development staff in order to determine the best possible solutions; and perform second-level support for the business.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**_ Management and Decision Making _**
- Participate in the defined BA processes to ensure all standards are met
- Contribute to decision making so as to ensure effort is applied to the most appropriate initiatives

**_Service_**
- Engage the business to identify needs and required changes to business processes and systems
- Provide consulting services to business partners on new initiatives (small to medium varying complexity)
- Conduct research, develop and present feasibility studies and proposals on strategic initiatives
- Manage detailed business requirement phases identifying, tracking and resolving business systems issues
- Research emerging trends/best practices and determines implications of proposed solutions on meeting business unit strategy
- Recommend business solutions that satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs, continually exploring and assessing options for value-add for the organization
- Ensure adequate end user documentation and training
- Contribute to successful project completion within budget and on time by identifying risks and developing/recommending mitigation strategies
- Provide 2nd level Production support

**_Communications_**
- Develop criteria for and participate in the evaluation of 3rd party vendors and software as well as due diligence exercises
- Facilitate complex group meetings and conduct information gathering sessions
- Prepare and deliver presentations to business partners, selecting the appropriate approach based on the audience
- Resolve complex conflicts/issues and escalate others as appropriate
- Effectively communicate and build rapport with team members, stakeholders and business partners using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close
- Liaise extensively with internal clients and IT team members (Developers, QAs, Technology Operations and Service Desk)
- Provide constructive feedback to management and co-workers

- Authority level to raise issues to maximize value to the organization
- Act as the source of information for many stakeholders throughout IT: development, infrastructure, and management

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**:
**Skills**:

- Requirements methods: interviewing, data modeling, business process modeling, business object modeling and user interface design
- Different requirement methodologies: Object Orientation, Use Cases, Unified Modeling Language, iterative methodologies like RUP and traditional waterfall approach
- Cost/Benefit Analysis & alternatives identification
- Conflict and issue resolution and escalation
- Knowledge of Meridian’s business, products, and processes, as well as factors affecting the business
- Assist in defect investigation and escalation
- Strong interpersonal skills - able to interact with and build effective relationships with all the teams within Solutions Development and Technology Operations
- Able to prioritize and plan workload, and to meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
- Organized with the ability to quickly prioritize and effectively handle critical issues or competing priorities; move with agility from one task to another
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to influence others and negotiate effectively
- Adaptable and patient - able to work well in a fluid environment, flex with change and tolerate ambiguity
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills - ability to prioritize and re-prioritize
- Self motivated
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Capable of explaining simple procedures in writing or verbally

- 1-2 years experience in Business Analysis with responsibility for:

- Requirements elicitation
- Requirements definition
- Requirements documentation and communication
- Use of BA software tools for requirements elicitation, documentation and communication
- Able to act with confidence in their area of expertise
