**Database Specialist - Co-op**
- The incumbent is responsible for implementing, developing, and maintaining effective administrative systems, procedures, records, and reports to support Mohawk’s experiential learning database.

Collaborating with academic departments, community partners, employers, and students, the incumbent provides database coordination, support, and training to all program stakeholders. Equally as vital, the incumbent must establish and maintain positive relationships with all stakeholders.

The incumbent must be able to function in a multi-faceted environment at a level that requires independent problem-solving and decision-making skills in the execution of various complex activities.

The Database Specialist - Co-op must be familiar with experiential learning activities types and have a solid understanding of database systems, Microsoft Office, reporting tools, scheduling systems, and College policies and procedures.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:
**Database Maintenance and Integrity**
- Create, maintain, and update data, forms, and reports within the experiential learning management system/database.
- Conduct frequent data integrity reviews to create efficiency and clean data.
- Ensure student data is imported daily from Mohawk’s student information system.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and employer information and documentation.
- Monitor and input any information collected from external forms or external databases into the experiential learning management system/database.
- Create and maintain supporting program databases, as requested by management.
- Continually analyze data and provide updates and recommendations regarding potential issues. Implement approved mitigation strategies, as required.
- Act as a liaison with the database vendor to implement system upgrades, share information, and find solutions to system issues.
- Attend and participate in training and upskilling provided by the database vendor.
- Configure the back end of experiential learning management system/database.

**Student, Faculty, and Staff Support**
- Act as the main point of contact for faculty, staff, and students for database related inquires.
- Trouble-shoot and resolve student, staff, faculty database issues.
- Provide database training and support to staff, students and faculty.
- Adhere to a wide variety of College policies and procedures.
- Inform students of the College’s policies, procedures, and required documentation.
- Provide database access to faculty, staff, employers, and students.
- Create reports and reporting documents, as requested by faculty and staff.
- Assist faculty and staff with developing links and information for the website and the student learning management system.
- Work collaboratively with various departments to support all experiential learning activities (i.e. Pre-Placement Services, Career Services, Institutional Analysis, Student Life, Occupational Health & Safety, Co-operative Education).
- Participate in campus committees and meetings.

**Employer & Community Agencies Support**
- Support employers and community agencies with appropriate database related questions or issues.
- Work collaboratively with General Counsel to create, store, and monitor legal agreements.
- Develop and maintain positive and productive employer and community partner relationships.
- Provide reporting, historical data, and key contacts to employers and community agencies, upon request.
- Coordinate job postings and interview schedules with employers and students.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
The successful applicant must have:

- A two year post-secondary education in Computer Systems Technician, Office Administration, Business; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of three (3) years with all aspects of database tables, queries, forms, and reports. Working knowledge of Access databases. Experience working in a post-secondary environment, preferably in an experiential learning capac
